Click to expand...I would avoid the 15x7 et25 and the 16x7.5 et31 may be a bit close but the others in the table will be fine. 0 Reply #10 · Jul 10, 2009 I'm so glad this showed up, as I'm looking at a set of 16" wheels off a newer S-class with an offset of 46mm, which might work out okay, though I think, because they're wider, they'll still hit the fender edge. Still on the fence. #11 · Jul 10, 2009 My 260E is bone stock right now, but before I bought it I let a lot of great rim/tire deals get away, because the W126 offset is so shallow. Eight hole rims with brand new Falken tires went for $250, but they had an ET of 36. Too much for a 126 w/o spacers. I don't need new tires, but now if another great deal comes along, I have a car to put them on! #12 · Jan 24, 2012 Fitting wheels to my 1990 W124 300E Two years ago, i bought a beautiful, 1990 300E, bone stock and near perfect. Except the wheels were the original 13 hole flat style that really date the car. I found some new Merc eight spoke take-offs on EBay Au being sold by a big wheel/tire dealer in Sydney. The salesperson didn't know exactly what model they came off of and he was pretty clueless on offsets. He said "we sold a set like this a few weeks ago to a guy with a 124 and the fit was fine." Well... I paid a great price... However, after they arrived, and after mounting new rubber, they did fit...about 2mm from the shocks and a bit too close for comfort. I don't believe in spacers as I'm a firm believer that the wheel size that shipped with the car originally would be the optimum size-diameter-offset-etc. that the Merc engineers designed into the car's geometry and unsprung weight on the corners. So, I added a set of German 5mm spacers for a little bit of breathing room and life seemed good...The second day driving, I hit a compression bump and yeah, they rubbed inside the wheel well... I had previously lowered the suspension with Eibachs and Bilstein Sports so I lost about 1.5" of clearance. Long story short....the wheels and spacers are in the garage and the 300E now has a proper fitment from some takeoffs from a SLK230. They look great, no rubbing and no speedo correction... Lesson learned...Now...i think those takeoffs will fit onto my new 1990 R129....hmmm.... #13 · Jan 24, 2012 My 1990 300E w/Wheels from Hell The offending wheels... just a tad too big with incorrect offset... I'll try them on the R129...
