Pentanamide

If (-CONH2) group is in structure, it is called “amide”

You can see, it has amide group

That moment, You put in numbers on structure you should mark 1st number on amide’s carbon.

Then count carbon and make suitable name.( It has not another groups and 2 bonds or 3 bonds with each carbon)

Carbon 1-meth

2- eth

3-prop

4-but

5- pent like this

The beta-Carbon in the compound has the capacity to make one more covalent bond. For naming the compound, I am assuming that this is a typo and there is just a hydrogen there.

Things to note before naming the compound:

• There are 5 parent Carbon atoms.
• The functional group present is an Amide group.

Therefore, the name of the compound is Pentanamide.
