The two companies have collaborated for the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and other military and commercial rotorcraft platforms.

The CH-53K King Stallion helicopter is designed to enhance aircrew, aircraft and passenger survivability.

The helicopter reduces pilot workload and increases situational awareness while minimising support and operational costs.

The US Marine Corps’ (USMC) CH-53K replaces its legacy Sikorsky CH-53 Super Stallion heavy-lift helicopter. The new aircraft offers mature technologies to provide over three times the capabilities of its predecessor.

The helicopter can lift 12,247kg at a mission radius of 203km in extreme weather conditions.

The USMC is aiming to procure around 200 CH-53K helicopters from Sikorsky, of which the first was delivered in 2018.

The helicopter is expected to be delivered to the USMC for operational squadron deployment in fiscal year (FY) 2024.
