What is it? The Volkswagen Golf GTI is the fastest version of the Mk8 Golf line-up, at least until the all-wheel-drive R version arrives in April. The GTI is the direct descendant of the 1976 model that launched the “hot hatch” class.
What does it cost? From $53,100 plus on-road costs. As tested, with the two available option packages (Sound and Vision, and Luxury), it’s $58,400 plus on-road costs – a new high mark for the GTI.
