1. Mai 2019 um 2:47 Why is Vortex so popular? Seriously?I never had any problems with Nexus Mod Manager. Why is it suddenly so damn popular?I understand the interface is nice and all but i just dont get it. Why there are so many fricking mod managers anyway?LOOT and Nexus Mod Manager is fine by me. 1. Mai 2019 um 11:29 "Why is Vortex so popular?"Probably because Nexus ceased official development on NMM years ago and there's a "Install Vortex" button at the top of every single Nexus page.Just like NMM before it it's "popular" not because it's the best, but it's the first thing 99% of modders see on the site where 99% of mods exist.Just a hunch. 3. Mai 2019 um 18:01 Only reason I used Vortex was because it was the Nexus default so I assumed it would work best. After using it I knew it was garbage without even trying another mod manager. It caused so many issues and was completey inflexible, basically destroying my game if I ever dared try to uninstall a mod. Mod Organiser 2 is better in every way I can imagine and causes no issues at all. Very powerful and flexible and does everything it needs to. Haven’t tried NMM. 3. Mai 2019 um 19:15 MO2 is the best for Bethesda games, but Vortex is a good all-arounder for others, such as Dragon Age. I however use NMM and MO2; MO2 for my Fallout titles and NMM for DA:O.At some point in the future I'll retire NMM completely when I feel Vortex has worked out more of its kinks and gets a little more streamlined. #25

4. Mai 2019 um 2:12 Vortex and MO2 work with different logic.I prefer MO2 myself as well. I swapped from NMM to that, when original Mod Organizer came out for 32bit games. Never looked back. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Langkard:I was a die hard NMM fan until I finally tried Vortex. Initially, it seemed to be too complicated; but after getting used to it, I find it much easier to use and prefer it to NMM. Downloading, installing, enabling, and updating mods just seems easier with Vortex now.Sure Vortex is not definition of bad but last time i was using NMM and tried out Vortex it literally killed my game. Mod managers were confused with mods and all. So yeah its my fault but still. #16

Ursprünglich geschrieben von Chef:Yes, Vortex has a "Purge" function that can return your game to vanilla with the push of a button. That sounds like an awesome feature. Especially for those people who fail to use uninstall features in a mod. #23
StarlessAeon Profil anzeigen Beiträge anzeigen Ursprünglich geschrieben von Bored Peon:But MO2 doesn’t need a purge button because it doesn’t install mods in the game folder to begin with. Just turn them off and they are no longer a factor. #24Ursprünglich geschrieben von Chef:Yes, Vortex has a "Purge" function that can return your game to vanilla with the push of a button. That sounds like an awesome feature. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Starless Æon:Vortex actually does not install mods in to game folder. It only looks that way, while it is active. Files appearing in Data folder are symlinks to mods, which are installed in to which ever location you selected from paths.Yet what Bored Peon said is also true. You never need to purge mods with MO2. It works with different logic. Both managers have their benefits. At this point Vortex is getting to be quite a good mod manager. Use of either mod manager divides opinions.- MO2 gives the most freedom for mod users, but requires that players know what they are doing. If you mess things up, then fixing them in MO2 is fast and easy, because nothing restricts you from working with load order and resource priorities.- Vortex restricts the freedom for mod users, but it is far harder to mess up your game with it. It "holds hand" more than MO2 does. Fixing up the game is relatively easy as well. But, if Vortex does not do what you want it to do, then fixing the situation will get notably more complex than with MO2. #28Ursprünglich geschrieben von Kalidor:vortex does this as well.Unless something changed since I used it, Vortex installs mods in the game folder. StarlessAeon Profil anzeigen Beiträge anzeigen Ursprünglich geschrieben von Ilja:The reason I dropped Vortex was because it messed up my game multiple times by delinking all my mods, causing me to need to reinstall the entire thing. The issue might be fixed now, but after the third time screwing my game up I decided it was time to move on to something else. Never once had an issue caused by MO2 so far and I've used it about 10 times as much as I used Vortex. #29Ursprünglich geschrieben von Starless Æon:Unless something changed since I used it, Vortex installs mods in the game folder.
