This saying is commonly found in banners during the Chinese New Year to wish visitors and passerbys a peaceful and safe journey and is found at entrances and gates.
Chū Rù Píng Ān means "Peace and Safety Wherever You Go".
The Chinese New Year holidays is a time for family reunions and to visit friends. Many people find themselves traveling to their hometowns, whether it is hundred of miles away or just across town, the Spring Festival brings everyone together.
So it is nice to wish peace and tranquility to the people coming to visit you, as well as a safe journey when they depart, and here we show you how!
Follow each character stroke by stroke, these are very simple and a good starting point before getting into the more challenging characters!
Chū is our first character, as a standalone it means literally "to come out" or "to go out". Very simple, only 5 strokes:
Rù means to "enter", to "go into", and couldn't be easier to write, only two strokes, pay attention to the order and direction:
The third character Píng literally means "calm", "peaceful", another easy one with only 5 strokes:
That leaves us with the last one Ān, which means calm, still, quiet, safe, secure. Often used together Píng Ān to mean "safe and sound" and "at peace"
And there you have it!
For a more literal translation of HAPPY NEW YEAR, we say:
Xīn Nián Kuài Lè!!!!
