chuck92116 said: I owned an X6 for a few years. In retrospect I should have gotten an X5. The X6 costs more, has less room, drives about the same, same MPG, no diesel option in U.S., and has a very cramped back seat. I would stick with an X5. Click to expand...Im not making it any easier but... I disagree that they drive about the same. It's a small but distinct difference. X6 has wider rear track, is a touch lighter, has a more raked windshield, lower CoG and the all important active rear diff (the only x5 with this is the M). Were on our 2nd X5 (x4.8 sport w/20s) and we're leaning toward an x6 35i. It's an exclusive car (tons of X5s out there) we don't need all the space (only 1 child). Good luck 0 Reply #4 · Nov 26, 2011 X5 vs X6 Having had an X5 and just now picking up an X6 - I would say there is no comparison in terms of style or ride. Style speaks for itself and on the ride - you need to go and drive one to appreciate. I think it comes down to what your needs are particularly in the room dept where the X5 wins. If you want something more exclusive, then the X6 is the clear winner. Tons of X5's on the road and imho looking dated despite the facelifts. The X6 looks fresh and different. I've been driving a RRS and 2011 335i convertible where I was trying to satisfy my desires and real life needs, I realized that 90% of the time it was just me in the vehicle and only very very occasionally did I need to load 5 pax + gear for a longer road trip (basically once a year if that). Having said that my 335i sat idle for 90% of the time as it just didn't quite have what I needed for being on the road 20-24 days a month in hotels. I revisited my decision and decided to dump both in favor of the X6 5.0 which I can enjoy every day, have some sportiness whilst still enjoying the utility of a SUV, which whilst tight in the back for 3 adults, will carry 3 as often as I need to without complaint. For my situation, I'm happy and right now you got to love the resale/residuals on the X6. #5 · Nov 26, 2011 I had an X6 for several years and rode and drove my friend's X5 often. If you think there is a big difference between two 5,000lb trucks that are the same height and width I would say it is more of a placebo effect. Blind folded I would be hard pressed to tell a difference. #6 · Nov 26, 2011 X5 versus X6 It depends on the type of driving you're doing but I guess we will agree to disagree #7 · Nov 30, 2011 Caveat: Never owned an X5 but have had an X6 and just upgraded to an X6M (yay!). Would agree with others here that it really depends on your driving style and needs. If you enjoy a sportier drive, the X6 is hard to beat as it does have a unique set of systems designed to enhance handling. Relatively practical: I can get two bikes, gear and a cooler in the back without taking any wheels off. That said, the X5 is definitely roomier, especially if you have a family and it is your "utility" car to run, errands, car-pools etc. The looks - I personally love the X6, but it is a polarizing shape so be prepared for some funny looks, especially as it is still relatively rare on the road! #8 · Dec 1, 2011 Picked up my wifes x6 yesterday. We decided the x5 was just too boxey and plain. Seeing this car in person made all the diff. Love it! http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...DESC&max_price=&make=BMW&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=14&standard=false #9 · Jan 10, 2012 How do you like the X6? #10 · Jan 10, 2012 (Edited) We took it on 4 road trips so far, last one to Mt. Zion. It's in first part of video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND0eTmd8iBY&list=UUPg-Oma5iBThfEsweldwt8A&index=2&feature=plcp We bought it used 2010 for $59k with 20k miles. Was $89k brand new. The bad, it has the HPFP (sp?) fuel problem which they promptly repaired. A minor rattle at cold start needs to be fixed. I'm always comparing it to my M3 which we got new so it's in good company. It's absolutely loaded to the gills with features. The soft leather seats have this smell i'm not sure if I like or not... your own nose has to decide. It either smells great or kinda like cat piss lol, i'm still not sure. Drives nice, it's the 3.5i, not sure why it has paddles. We removed all the chrome lettering and did the black kidney grills... are about to lightly smoke the tail lights. I love the way it looks and we get comments quite often. My wife feels cooler in this car vs. an x5 she says. Storage is adequate, and I finally stopped hitting my head on the trunk. Heads up display was done well. I wish the shifter was nicer, it feels a bit cheap compared to my M. The stupid ipod holder charger should have never come standard and can't be removed easily. So I think a redesign of the center glove box is in order. Overall, i'd buy one again in a heartbeat. Its a cool car and you feel like a million bucks driving it. I've seen Cayan owners stare us down, but i've NEVER seen another X6 on the road in all our driving so far. We're often in the SW Vegas and SoCal, just odd. #14 · Apr 3, 2012

Click to expand...WOW.... thats a big drop in resale value for a X6... 0 Reply #11 · Jan 10, 2012 If the X6 came in a diesel, I would've bought it #12 · Jan 17, 2012 I have the premium hk sounds in the x6 and M3. I've noticed the x6 sounds much better over the entire spectrum. Lows in particular are much better. I assume the enclosures under seat are different. Wtg x6 #13 · Mar 20, 2012 I have an e92 M3 just like the one in your picture and was considering an X6 3.5 as my next car and was interested to hear what you think about power and handling....is the 35i strong enough to push the 5,000 lbs? what about cornering? Ride quality? Any regrets? What kind of gas mileage are you getting? Thanks. 0 Reply #15 · Apr 3, 2012 (Edited) I think if you want to compare resale values between two cars, you need to factor in that the MY2010 was probably sold in 2009, and you should compare the 2009MY vehicle's actual selling price (probably 5% to 7% less than the MSRP stated). That difference over three years is not abnormal. The "$89K " amount actually sounds a bit high for the 3.5 X6. #16 · Apr 3, 2012

That is low mileage for that model year vehicle #18 · Jul 11, 2012 Newbie to this site but considering I've had 00' 540 6sp to a X5 4.4 Msport package and now an X6 50i sport pack -- there is absolutely no turning back! The second I think I'm about to get used to it and I see one on the road --its over -- I can't stop looking and the treatment you'll get is completely different. When I valet they keep my car in front. I'm in NYC and sometimes have to go to certain hotels - - they keep my car in front and I dont have to pay the $40+ for parking plus tax... of course I give at least a $20 tip but it's worth it. If your truly getting the 35i make sure you get all the bells and whistles. Understand this -- there is nothing like the sound of the X6 50! The only problem is what are you going to want next. This is almost like a mid life crisis but your the only one that'll know. Go to the dealership and test drive them both. #19 · Jul 12, 2012 I'm with you on that! When I see one on the road, it gives me the chill that it's gonna be an awesome car! I can't wait to get those hatred looks on people's face. Do you like stares in the pedestrian areas? U can tell right? By the way, I'm expecting it by mid August and I got the LED Light package ( I guess it's a must) and the ///M Package! Can't wait and it will be sick! #20 · Jul 17, 2012 Sounds like a great package! What color did you order? I'm also considering the ///M Package (love the 336 wheels) but can't seem to find out what all is included. It's got to be more than the wheels and the special steering wheel for $4,400, right? 0 Reply #21 · Jul 18, 2012 Its all on the web page. ***8226;20" Light alloy Y-Spoke wheels style 336-with performance run-flat tires ***8226;M Performance Package (More horse power) ***8226;M Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters ***8226;Anthracite headliner ***8226;Shadowline exterior trim There are also more seat color choices #22 · Aug 23, 2012 I have been driving my X6 35 for a mere 10 days, and just dropped it off this morning for LoJack and Simonize service. I got an X5 35d as a loaner, and I can say without a doubt that the X6 is WAY more fun to drive. Cornering and handling in general are simply tighter, so unless you need the extra room (and there isn't that much more of that), test drive an X6; you will NOT be dissapointed. #23 · Aug 24, 2012 Why the LoJack?? The car has a Stolen Vehicle Recovery system already? 1 Reply #25 · Aug 24, 2012 ifly, I see your X5 was stolen. Was it recovered, if so, when; no LoJack ? I personally like the the Guidepoint theft deterent system better, but didn't want to muck around under the dashboard just yet. I have Guidepoint on my Challenger SRT8, the web tracking on my phone and unauthorized movement service is nice. #26 · Aug 24, 2012 That was a US 2004 X5, did not have Stolen Vehicle Recovery back then and it was actually stolen in Poland while we lived there so LoJack would have been useless. Vehicle was never recovered probably parted out in Russia! 0 Reply This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
