Joined 2006 Are X7R ceramic capacitors suitable as power supply bypass capacitors in audio ckts like op amp filters, or do I need to spend the much larger amount on NP0 types? R

Joined 2004 NP0/C0G type is the better capacitor. They are more expensive and usually larger for the same value than X7R type. TDK CAP CER 0.10UF 50V X7R 10% 0805 = $0.112 TDK CAP CER 0.10UF 50V C0G 5% 1210 = $3.30 BWRX

Joined 2005 X7R ceramics are fine for bypassing. NP0 would be preferred in active filter circuitry. X7R ceramics have a dielectric with a higher relative dielectric constant which equates to more capacitance per unit volume. R
