• Similar to Hong hua but much stronger and much more expensive. • It is used in relatively severe cases, mainly for painful obstruction of the chest. • Used for depression. Extensive research in Iran (main global producer) looks very promising. • Topical for acne. • Regulates menstruation. • Eases cough and asthmatic breathing. • Reduces fever and inflammation. • Not to be confused with Meadow Saffron (Colchicum autumnale) which is toxic.

Dose: 1-3g in decoction or 0.5-1.5g eaten directly
