ProfessorCurriculum and InstructionThe School of EducationPhD, Learning Design and Technology, Purdue University MEd, Communication, Education and Technology, University of Manchester, UK Dr. Xiaojun (June) Chen is Professor in the School of Education at St. John's University, and currently serves as Program Coordinator for Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. She obtained her Ph.D. in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University, and Master of Education in Communication, Education and Technology from University of Manchester in UK. Dr. Chen conducts research and publishes articles in the following areas: emerging technologies in learning and globalization; technology integration and teacher education; and best practices in STEM/STEAM education from interdisciplinary technology perspective. She serves in editorial positions as well as on editorial boards and as a reviewer for several international research journals, and she is actively involved in international education organizations. Currently she is working and leading a variety of funded-research projects. These projects include: investigating AI literacy and mixed reality for STEM education and K-12 teaching and learning, cultivating reflective teaching practices through mobile technology integration, and big data ethics awareness in STEM education.Selected Awards and Honors: New York State Education Department - Virtual Implementation of Teaching and Learning (VITAL) Educator (2025); Best Paper AECT/SICET (2022); Global Online Learning Experience Faculty (2019-2020); Best Paper for Faculty AECT/SICET (2018); Best Presentation AECT/SICET (2016); Sinatra Endowment Award (2015); St. John’s University Summer Research Award (2015-2016); St. John's University Technology Fellow (2013-2015); National Science Foundation Early Career Symposium Junior Faculty Panelist at Association of Educational Communications and Technology (2014); Purdue University Graduate School Excellence in Teaching Award (2012); AECT Intern (2011).
