Xin Tian is a researcher in the Hydroinformatics team at KWR. His research interests and expertise are centred on hydroinformatics, especially on optimisation and data science to address a wide range of problems concerning water resources management and planning. His doctoral work at TU Delft proposed a novel optimisation-based methodology, namely Model Predictive Control, to investigate real-time operations of the Dutch water system. Before joining KWR, he was a researcher working on several urban water projects in the Netherlands, Singapore, and China, focusing on machine/deep learning and decision-making flexibility. These methodologies were improved and applied to help cities better predict and counteract challenges from climate change, population growth, etc. Furthermore, he has excellent programming skills in both Matlab and Python.
