xQc calls out Felicia Day over "wrong" tweet on streamers Olivia Richman Olivia Richman Published 04/09/2021 xQc Felicia Day

Felix “xQc” Lengyel was not afraid to speak up when he saw a tweet he didn’t agree with from author and actress Felicia Day.

In a since-deleted tweet, Day accused the “most popular streamer” of using derogatory slurs towards women and people of color. xQc responded that Day was “wrong on all counts” and demanded that she show proof. Day responded that she “wasn’t even talking” about xQc and that she in fact liked his content.

“Oh thanks! I was just wondering if you had the receipts so we could hold the people accountable for their actions,” xQc replied.

According to xQc’s fanbase, xQc was assuming that Day was talking about Adin Ross, a controversial GTA streamer who has been the center of a lot of criticism within the streaming community. Adin recently hosted a dating show stream where the participants, who were black, and used a racial epithet.

While many agreed with xQc in wanting to see proof no matter who the alleged streamer is, others felt that xQc was simply starting drama. But Day was not free from criticism. The high-profile interaction had many calling her out for being a “white savior.”

But perhaps the most content from the interaction revolved around Day’s alleged fear of gamers.

Felicia Day has commented on gamers in the past

Day had been very vocal about “Gamer Gate” in 2014, getting a lot of flack from the gaming community. The Supernatural actress even wrote a Tumblr post about her feelings towards gamers changing after that incident.

According to Day, standing up for some of the victims of Gamer Gate had caused her an abundance of harassment. Day had already experienced some drama before Gamer Gate for posting about games in general, seeming to be the victim of alleged “gate keeping” from sexist gamers. But one simple reply about Gamer Gate on Twitter made the interactions even worse.

“For the first time maybe in my life, on that Saturday afternoon, I walked towards that pair of gamers and I didn’t smile. I didn’t say hello. In fact, I crossed the street so I wouldn’t walk by them. Because after all the years of gamer love and inclusiveness, something had changed in me. A small voice of doubt in my brain now suspected that those guys and I might not be comrades after all. That they might not greet me with reflected friendliness, but contempt,” Day wrote at the time.

xQc’s decision to call her out on the tweet made the situation even more publicized, drawing in fresh criticism from all over. For many people, Day didn’t have enough proof to make such a tweet, while others felt she was trying too hard to create a problem that wasn’t there.
