“You Are a Bird is launching in Early Access so your feedback can help me create a better VR bird sim.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“~When it's ready~ You Are A Bird development is a battle against every convention of VR optimization and the new UE5 Beta version uses some of the latest Unreal 5 rendering tech and experimental features in VR. Not a predictable process overall.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Development plans include:

• A variety of bird species options
• Additional biomes like cities, snowy forests, and tropical islands.
• Humans to mess with?
• More prey animals.
• More survival elements (thirst, sleep, etc).
• 💩ing on humans, cars, statues, etc.
• Bird calls.
• Mechanically different diurnal and nocturnal birds.
• Predator animals on the ground.
• Improved dynamic audio.
• Improved flight mechanics.
• Improved visuals

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You will encounter bugs, performance issues, and generally rough edges at this stage of development. The older Unity version has been replaced with a full rewrite in Unreal Engine 5. Bird flight simulation has been totally re-written based on real bird flight physics and is in a playable state. Runtime procedural world generation has been replaced with more a detailed and optimized 56 square kilometer world. Hunt rabbits and peck out their guts. Many planned features are not ready yet ~but it's still fun to fly right now~ The older Unity version is still available in an optional beta channel named "unity"”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Not planning to increase price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I keep up with the community over Discord primarily. Pls join there for bug reports, feature suggestions, etc.There's already a ton of features and improvements in my To Do list from players and I'm hoping to add more.” Read more VR Only

Your real arms become wings in You Are a Bird.Flap and angle your wings to gracefully soar through the sky in the most immersive bird flight experience.Stalk prey from above, extend your talons, and swoop in for the catch while exploring a massive world.
