Z Moves

Following on from Mega Evolution, Pokémon Sun & Moon introduces a whole new mechanic which once again utilises a ring on the trainer's wrist. These are Z Moves. These moves are incredibly powerful moves and can only be used once per battle. The Z Ring is the item that activates it, with Z Crystals being needed to be held by the Pokémon in order for the moves to be activated. There is a Z Crystal for each type of Pokémon.

The Z Moves aren't set in either whether or not they're Physical or Special, or the damage that they do. Rather the damage is based on the base move, so Nuzzle would result in a Gigavolt Havoc strength of 100 and Physical while Thunderbolt causes it to be 175 and Special.

There are a few restrictions. As well as only once per battle, the Pokémon has to know a move of the same type as the special Z Crystal so a Pikachu can't use Bloom Doom unless it knows the move Grass Knot. Also, these moves hit through Protect, but have their damage reduced to 25% of the original damage.

Clangorous Soulblaze 1 185 -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Kommo-o, attacks the opposing Pokémon with full force. This move boosts the user's stats.
Continental Crush 1 -- -- The user summons a huge rock mountain using its Z-Power and drops it onto the target with full force. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Corkscrew Crash 1 -- -- The user spins very fast and rams into the target with the full force of its Z-Power. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Devastating Drake 1 -- -- The user materializes its aura using its Z-Power and attacks the target with full force. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Extreme Evoboost 1 -- -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Eevee, gets energy from its evolved friends and boosts its stats sharply.
Genesis Supernova 1 185 -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Mew, attacks the target with full force. The terrain will be charged with psychic energy.
Gigavolt Havoc 1 -- -- The user hits the target with a powerful electric current collected by its Z-Power. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Guardian of Alola 1 -- -- The user, the Land Spirit Pokémon, obtains Alola's energy using its Z-Power and attacks the target with full force. This reduces the target's HP greatly.
Hydro Vortex 1 -- -- The user creates a huge whirling current using its Z-Power to swallow the target with full force. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Inferno Overdrive 1 -- -- The user breathes a stream of intense fire toward the target with the full force of its Z-Power. The power varies depending on the original move.
Let's Snuggle Forever 1 190 -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Mimikyu, punches the target with full force.
Light That Burns the Sky 1 200 -- This attack inflicts Attack or Sp. Atk damage— whichever stat is higher for the user, Necrozma. This move ignores the target's Ability.
Malicious Moonsault 1 180 -- The user, Incineroar, strengthens its body using its Z-Power and crashes into the target with full force.
Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom 1 200 -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Lunala, attacks the target with full force. This move can ignore the effect of the target's Ability.
Never-Ending Nightmare 1 -- -- Deep-seated grudges summoned by the user's Z-Power trap the target. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Oceanic Operetta 1 195 -- The user, Primarina, summons a massive amount of water using its Z-Power and attacks the target with full force.
Pulverizing Pancake 1 210 -- Z-Power brings out the true capabilities of the user, Snorlax. The Pokémon moves its enormous body energetically and attacks the target with full force.
Savage Spin-Out 1 -- -- The user binds the target with full force with threads of silk that the user spits using its Z-Power. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Searing Sunraze Smash 1 200 -- After obtaining Z-Power, the user, Solgaleo, attacks the target with full force. This move can ignore the effect of the target's Ability.
Shattered Psyche 1 -- -- The user controls the target with its Z-Power and hurts the target with full force. The power varies, depending on the original move.
Sinister Arrow Raid 1 180 -- The user, Decidueye, creates countless arrows using its Z-Power and shoots the target with full force.

Z Statuses

In addition to the standard Z-Moves, Status movss can also be powered up with Z Power. These moves, when you have the corresponding Z Crystal, will become Z powered and, in addition to their usual effect, will have one of many different side effects.

These effects mostly just boost stats for the duration of the battle and do count as your one Z Move so choose wisely if you wish to have the added boost.
