JC's Stang J Im in need of a new mechanical fuel pump and a lot has me confused. I have a mild 351w and fuel pump is rusted and not up to par. It has a cam(not sure on numbers), the heads are bigger valve 70s heads, shorty headers, holley 1850 carb, dura spark, and some other small things. im looking to replace the fuel pump and not run a FPR. all the lph, gph, 8psi max-min all have me confused on buying a new pump. i just would like to know what some of you run for fuel pumps? i want to keep it a mechanical pump. any and all opions welcome thanks #1 · Oct 10, 2014 Im in need of a new mechanical fuel pump and a lot has me confused. AutoSport said: A Carter M6588 is a great choice for your application and what Ford used. How many HP do you think that pump can support? Click to expand...
#3 · Oct 11, 2014 No I'm not running 1850 cfm my carb is a Holley with the part number being 1850- #4 · Oct 11, 2014 that is the same pump I use on mine and 600hp is available and still maintains 6psi at WOT The pump is listed as a 140 gallons per hour it can move and gas weighs around 7 lbs per gallon so around 980 lbs of gas THAT IS A LOT just use it #5 · Oct 12, 2014 Just go to Jegs or Summit and do a search. You can easily find one that supports more HP if you want. #6 · Oct 12, 2014 thanks for the help. I ordered the Carter M6588 pump. im no where around the limits of that pump Insert Quotes Post Reply
