5 Pro Heroes Bakugou Respects (& 5 He Doesn't) - CBR

My Hero Academia's Katsuki Bakugo is a divisive character among fans. His abrasive personality and violent tendencies makes fans either love him or hate him. Despite his faults, most people can agree he is one of the best-developed characters in the series.

He may have low self-esteem and self-image issues but it's clear he thinks very highly of his abilities as a future hero. That said, it's a big deal anymore gains his respect. Bakugou's favorite hero is number one Pro Hero All Might, but getting his admiration isn't about being popular. Heroes who win and respect him as a future hero in training, will always have his respect.

10 Does Respect: Aizawa Is One Of The Best Heroes

Aizawa from my hero academia using quirk

Aizawa was a bit of an oddball when he was first introduced. Then again, showing up to class in a sleeping bag definitely leaves quite the impression.

Despite his personality and outward appearance, he is probably one of the first teachers Bakugou begrudgingly respects. Previous teachers let Bakugou get away with doing whatever he wanted, but Aizawa was the first to challenge him. Aizawa expects more from his students and Bakugou respects him for that. It also helps that Aizawa was willing to sacrifice himself in order to protect his students. Compared to the rest of hero society, he is one of the best.

9 Does Not: Endeavor Is Who He Doesn't Want To Be

endeavor mha

Midoriya isn't the only student who knows about the Todoroki family drama. Thanks to Bakugou's eavesdropping skills he knows far more about Endeavor's personality than he ever wanted to and that has shaped his perception of him.

Bakugou isn't afraid to tell Endeavor to his face that he thinks he's a jerk, and he makes it clear that he only interned with him to see how a top Pro Hero works. People may think Bakugou and Endeavor are similar, but it's clear Bakugou doesn't appreciate the comparison and will do everything he can to be different.

8 Does Respect: All Might Is His Idol

all might younger days

Bakugou has made it clear that he admires All Might more than anyone else. Though his goal is to be a better hero than All Might, it's clear All Might's opinion of him is a big deal. Bakugou is constantly vying for All Might's attention and his decision to choose Midoriya as his successor added to his contempt for his classmate.

Most of his development happens because he believes he failed as a hero in All Might's eyes. Additionally, Bakugo burdened himself with the belief that he was responsible for All Might losing his power. All Might is one of the only people Bakugou will listen to, so Bakugou believes him when he says losing his power wasn't his fault.

7 Does Not: Midnight Disregarded Bakugou's Feelings

Midnight Demonstrating Her Quirk To Students

Midnight seems to leave a poor impression on many of the students. It's not unusual for someone to comment on how inappropriate her attire is, which makes sense considering she's a teacher for high school students.

Bakugou has especially had several bad encounters with Midnight that are sure to have left a bad taste in his mouth. Not only did she reject his hero name, which he completely ignores and chooses it anyway, but she also knocked him unconscious and tied him up during the Sports Festival. Out of all the U.A. staff, Bakugou probably respects her the least.

6 Does Respect: Best Jeanist Taught Him A Few Valuable Lessons

Anime Best Jeanist MHA Hero Costume

Bakugou and Best Jeanist definitely got off on the wrong foot when they first met. Then again, it's hard for Bakugou to respect someone's opinion when they tell him they hate him right off the bat. Bakugou fought Jeanist on everything during his internship, especially Jeanist's desire to change his appearance. While Bakugo didn't appreciate his time interning with Best Jeanist, its obvious that the two grew to understand each other a little more.

During Bakugo's rescue mission, Jeanist was worried for Bakugou's safety because he was sure Bakugou was fighting back against the villains. Though Bakugo and Jeanist's first interaction was unpleasant, there's obvious admiration. When Bakugo announced he finally chose a hero name, he asserted that he couldn't tell anyone until he told a particular person first. This was an obvious reference to his conversation with Best Jeanist about choosing a hero name that reflects his "ideal self."

5 Does Not: Pixie-bob Was Creepy During Their First Meeting

Pixie-bob from the Wild Wild Pussy Cats making a heart with her paws In MHA

Unfortunately for Pixy-Bob, she didn't gain the same respect from Bakugou that her hero partner Tiger did and that's probably because of the way she acted towards him during the training camp. She is obsessed with her age and she actually rebukes anyone who points out how long she's been a hero.

Not to mention, when Bakugou, Todoroki, and Midoriya reached the camp first she stated that she wanted to groom them, which is weird considering she is an adult and they're teenagers. Her inappropriate behavior is a bit of a turn-off and it's clear out of all the members of the Wild Wild Pussy Cats Bakugou cares for her opinion the least.

4 Does Respect: Gang Orca Helped Him Become A Better Hero

Gang Orca may be on the list of heroes that look like villains but that doesn't mean he isn't a hero worth respecting, especially to the students he taught during the remedial classes.

Bakugou learned a lot from him and even though he was angry that he didn't pass in the first place, it's clear he took the lessons with Gang Orca seriously. It's thanks to Gang Orca that Bakugou is able to get his provisional license so it makes sense that he would have a great amount of respect for the hero.

3 Does Not: Hawks Is His Competition Not His Hero

Hawks' wings in My Hero Academia.

It's clear that Bakugou sees Hawks as competition rather than someone to look up to. Especially when Hawks took out a villain before he could when they first met.

It's likely Bakugou's attitude towards Hawks may change, especially during the war arc in the manga. But for now, it's pretty obvious that Hawks is an annoyance to him rather than someone he respects, which he didn’t hesitate to tell Hawks.

2 Does Respect: Recovery Girl Knows What's Best

My Hero Academia Recovery Girl

U.A. is able to get away with a lot thanks to Recovery Girl's services. All of the exams and training would be completely different if she wasn't there to mend a broken bone when the students need it.

Since her position in the school is so important she has  everyone's respect, including Bakugou – though he's reluctant to show gratitude since he doesn’t like when Recovery Girl uses her Quirk on him. This was shown best in the first movie when Bakugou broke both of his arms. However, he doesn't talk back when he interacts with her, which is something he does to almost everyone else.

1 Does Not: Present Mic Acts Like A Bit Of An Idiot

Present Mic from My Hero Academia posing

When Present Mic is around the students it's pretty clear he likes to put on a hero persona. When it's just him and Aizawa he acts differently. Even though he acts like an idiot, it's pretty obvious he's not someone to be messed with.

However, Bakugou seems to take his persona at face value as he acts incredibly annoyed by the hero's antics. During the entrance exam, it seemed like he could care less about the hero while Midoriya was jumping for joy at the sight of Present Mic. When it comes down to it, it's clear Bakugou prefers Aizawa's method of teaching over Present Mic's.
