GotAFoSTnSpeed6 So I am curious to what peoples opinions are on cleaning our MAP sensors? Obviously with the proper MAF/MAP electronic sensor cleaner, but I have always been one that read DO NOT TOUCH the sensor with anything. So yes I have cleaned one very gently with a Q-tip and said cleaner when I was younger but I never have on my ST. Ive always just did the spray and let dry, but looking at it the sensor looks kinda dirty like dusty even after spraying it with cleaner. LoL! #3 · Nov 26, 2020 O i always clean my map sensors every like 10k miles or so maybe alil over that. Its a habit I got into with the GM MaF cars and then maps were cleanable too but I guess to some its debatable...lol, But like i said I dont really do much besides spray them with electronic sensor cleaner and then let it sit for awhile as it drys. I can say I have always noticed a mile or two increase per gal after doing the cleaning. So thats all. #4 · Nov 26, 2020 I don't think anyone cleans their MAP sensor. I think cleaning parts that shouldn't touched regularly leads to quite a few members' issues here with performance. #5 · Nov 26, 2020 I don’t think you’re hurting it, but you’re probably also not changing anything by spraying it. I haven’t ever cleaned mine, I’ve never taken it out of the manifold. My bet is that it’s probably covered in PCV oil lmao Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk #6 · Nov 26, 2020 Correlation test (a.k.a. which sensor has **** the bed) After a 4 - 6 hour cold soak period (allowing the engine to sit overnight if possible) monitor the following sensors.

  • Barometric Pressure
  • MAP
The TIP is measured by the TCBP (turbocharger boost pressure) sensor which also measures intercooler output temperature. It is located on or near the passenger side of the IC. Barometric Pressure or BARO sensor in physically intergrated into the PCM (powertrain control module) which is located inside the driver side front fender (or the exact please 90% of you seem to keep getting hit). This sensor measures barometric pressures to help determine the appropriate amount air density. AD or air density changes with elevation, temperature and humidity. The Manifold Absolute Pressure or MAP sensor is bolted directly to the front of the intake manifold. *note some aftermarket MAP sensors maybe remotely located via a vacuum line or mounted to the sound symposer delete plate. This sensor measures the actual air pressure inside the manifold inorder to determine the appropriate amount of fueling based on volume and density of that air. The test is performed KOEO (key on engine off) which is entirely different the FDAU (face down as...... never mind. Forget I ever brought it up.) Anyway, cold engine with the ignition on, but engine not running all monitored sensors should read very close to one another. Depending on where you are in the world all 3 should read 1 Bar or 14.7+/- PSI. Example A: BARO = 14.78 MAP = 14.69 TIP = 14.71 Boost pressure (manifold) = 0 PSI You're good to go. Example B: BARO = 14.78 MAP = 19.65 TIP = 14.71 Boost pressure (manifold) = 4.87 PSI Correlation error at start up. The PCM thinks that the intake is almost 5 PSI positive even though the engine is off. So bad or or incorrectly calibrated MAP sensor. The same principle is used for the other sensors. Find the one that doesn't match and investigate further. J #7 · Feb 5, 2022 (Edited) Hello! @%1; My car has the problem that it idles erratically. Me and the garage have already looked at everything and then I came across this explanation. I checked the sensors and with the engine off I get good results. When I start the engine and read the sensors the MAP sensor shows a much lower value than the other 2. I also checked a car of a friend of mine to see if he had the same results and he has the MAP sensor the same as the other when the engine is idling.
