About Franklin, WI

City of Franklin Water TowerFranklin, WI 34.6 square miles in southwestern Milwaukee County, 10 miles south of downtown Milwaukee. The Franklin community has a population of 35,655 and offers a small town feel with convenient access to all the attractions that Milwaukee has to offer.

The City of Franklin has sixteen City parks, eleven Milwaukee County parks, and seven parks at school sites for a total of 3,881 acres of park, open space, and outdoor recreation sites. Other Franklin area attractions include the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, The Rock Complex and the Franklin Public Library. The South Suburban Chamber of Commerce offers business networking opportunities for Franklin businesses.

Thirty years ago, Franklin was primarily a farming community with few working and middle class residential and commercial developments; however, recent booms in development have quickly transformed Franklin into a thriving suburban community. Franklin residents benefit from close proximity to the business and cultural life of the Greater Milwaukee Area.
