Alex Turner / Arctic Monkeys / Alexa Chung - Busy Being Make Believe

So first of all, I want to make it clear that this post is based on clues I’ve gathered since february that lead me to believe that there is/was something going on, things that were pretty easy to notice if you follow Alexa and their friends on social media. I’m not saying they’re dating, only Alex and Alexa could give us a confirmation (and I don’t think this will happen anytime soon/or ever whether they’re really together or not). I’m just a fan who likes to talk about them. I love Alex and Alexa separately and together, and I looove Arctic Monkeys

JAN 4th: Alex, Arielle, Jamie, Katie and Miles fly to Austria for Alex’s birthday. According to Arielle’s instagram they return on Jan 11th

JAN 10th: Alexa lands in LA with Pixie and her boyfriend (George) to spend a month vacation

JAN 24th: Apparently Alex and Arielle split up in late january. She didn’t post anything on her instagram or twitter for more than a week - which is strange when it comes to arielle - and then she posts a selfie and someone comment “you look like you’ve been crying”. (+ At the end of june she posts this video. Background song “it’s been FIVE months since you went away…” I don’t think it was a random choice)

JAN 25th: Arielle post a pic of her friends buying food and wearing tracksuits “they got dressed up to see me” a very girly thing for when a friend is going through a breakup. In the following days she starts to post quotes, John Cooper Clarke, a video with a plush monkey…

JAN 26th: Alex was spotted at a bar in NY with Miles and Matt Hitt, and fans take pictures with him and Miles. The next day Arctic Monkeys record David Letterman.

JAN 30th: Arctic Monkeys return to tour

FEB 5th: Alexa lands in New York for NYFW

FEB 7th: Alexa hangs out with Katie Cook (Jamie’s wife), Zackery and friends in NY. She also post on instagram a photo of The Beatles

FEB 8th: Arctic Monkeys gig at Madison Square Garden. They cover Beatles “All my loving”.

+ Arielle posts on her ig a plush monkey with the caption “so we met again”, but she was in LA. MSG is a big deal for every artist… the boys families, girlfriends and friends were there to support them. Back then I still believed Alex and Arielle were together and although I find her absence odd, I shrugged it off. Maybe she couldn’t make it or was busy.

++ Alexa went to a NYFW dinner, so I don’t know if she was at MSG or the afterparty at some point of that night. It’s possible and apparently people saw her there so idk

FEB 9th: According to tweets and tumblr Alex, Alexa, Miles, Matt Hitt, Zackery and friends were seen at a bar in NY (the same bar from jan 26th). Two girls who saw them there both sundays are on tumblr and post: ”if only you all knew what i witnessed tonight” tagging #otp #this is some next level indie tabloid shit #never give up on your otps

When asked what they had witnessed one of them said “I don’t want to start or spread anything that’s why I left so vague”. They did answer asks and said they were talking and smoking but deleted them shortly after, I think because people were calling them liars.

But in the next days: is alexa dating matt? “no she’s dating alex”

One of the girls reblogged a pic of Alex and Alexa kissing which said “want them back together” and she added “well get ready cause it’s happening” tagging with #alex and alexa and googley eyes on the corner. They didn’t tag Alexa or Alex names on their posts or gave details so the rumours didn’t spread all over the fandom, just some blogs talked about it and a lot of people believed they were lying because AM had a gig in Kentucky that day so Alex couldn’t be in NY. But when they posted it was past midnight, maybe after they got home, not actual feb 10th night, so it could be true.

Me: When I saw all of this I was skeptical. Like I said I thought Alex and Arielle were still together and that these girls were trolling everybody. Later when it was clear they had broke up and he was spotted with Alexa I started to put two and two together and to notice other things along the way. I kept it to myself though as at the end of the day it wasn’t my business anyway and all I could do was wait and hope. I was just happy they were hanging out even as friends after almost 3 years

AM continue touring until feb 15th and after that Alex went MIA. He probably spent valentine’s day alone (or only God knows with who). He had a gig in Minneapolis, Arielle was in LA (she did an audition that day) and I think Alexa was in NY.

I remember that around that time Alexa posted on ig a selfie with the photo of Gill, the one on the cover of Last Shadow Puppets album. Miles commented something like “say hi to her for me” but Alexa deleted the pic due to mean comments related to Alex.

After valentine’s day Georgie (Arielle’s best friend) posted on ig a pic with Arielle and other two friends pointing fingers with the caption “insert beyonce lyrics” and everybody there were saying “single ladies”.

FEB 19th: Alex was spotted at Heathrow airport for Brits Awards. Alexa tweets “London FOMO”. She didn’t attend to the Brits because she flew to Milan for an event. Later that night she likes this pic of Alex on ig. PS: Alex was the only AM member who didn’t take a date to the ceremony.

+ There’s a video from february or march (I’m not sure) of Alexa and her friends dancing in front of a man in NY who some people believe to be Alex. I think it was Camille who posted it. It’s not on her ig anymore, but Brianna reposted the video in june. I personally don’t think it’s him, but who knows. Alexa also posts this on march 13th, apparently from the same day.

March pretty much confirmed Alex and Arielle were not together anymore. After NME Awards the band went in a two months hiatus, they didn’t have any gigs until may. Alex spent almost entire march in Europe (London, Paris, Iceland, Sheffield…) and started partying - aka dancing on tables – and going to bars with Miles and friends instead of going back to LA to be with Arielle like he usually did. Also, Arielle used to take pictures and make vines at Alex’s house where she lived with him, and now she has a new place and was hanging out a lot with other guys, including her former boyfriend.

MAR 14th: Alexa flies to LA and stays a week there. David posts a video with her and Katie comments on it (she was in Sheffield with Jamie and Alex). Alexa tweets:

MAR 22th: Alex was spotted in LA. On the same day Arielle posts a video singing “Case of the Ex”. As usual some people assumed it as a message to Alex and even Alexa because of the lyrics. Meanwhile, Alexa was in England working and visiting her family and friends.

Around that time come out this interview that Alex and Matt did for a Columbus radio station on feb 10th. At 7:00 the guy asks Alex “Tell me about Arabella, who’s Arabella?” Alex ponders and stutters, he says she’s quite remarkable and that the song is about “trying to describe this sort of impossible object or something” and that he got carried away colouring outside the lines. It was quite awkward and I cringed watching it (look at Matt’s face too). Alex doesn’t like to answer such questions, but in 2013 when AM5 was released and he was asked about Arabella he answered it in a more cheerful way. At 11:25 the interviewer asks about Do I Wanna Know? “Tell me about the song. Is there one particular person that sort of inspired or influenced the song? A person from the past, the present, the future?” Another awkward moment (Matt’s face was priceless again) and Alex is very vague and evasive.

I’m bringing up this interview because it’s from after his break up with Arielle and just one day after he supposedly was at a bar with Alexa. It seems that Arabella is inspired by Arielle, and Do I Wanna Know? is probably about Alexa, as Alex said in a past interview that the song is about calling an “old bird” when you’re drunk.

+ Fans notice Matt and Miles are no longer following Arielle on twitter.

MAR 29th: Zackery posts a pic of Alex and other pics at his house, confirming he still lives there, only Arielle has moved out. Alex went out drinking with friends at Chateau Marmont that night

APR 4th: Alexa heads to LA with Grimmy, Pixie and George for Coachella.

APR 6th: a fan meets Alex at a grocery shop in LA and takes a pic with him

APR 7th: Peaches Geldof passes away. Pixie, Alexa and Grimmy were supposed to dj at Coachella but cancel their appearances at the festival. Pixie and her boyfriend (George) fly back to London to stay with her family. Alexa and Grimmy stay in LA until 11th

APR 11th: Alex spends the day at a photoshoot near Venice beach. The magazine staff post pics with him.

APR 12th: Alex was reportedly seen at Gatwick airport (UK)

+ Arielle goes to Coachella first weekend with her friends

APR 16th: David posts a pic on his ig with Alex, Miles, Zackery and Matt Hitt in LA

APR 20th: Alex and Miles go to Coachella second weekend. Arielle was there too with friends and later posts a vine with Matty Healy (from The 1975) but deletes it

APR 21th: Alexa attends Peaches Geldof’s funeral in London

APR 23th: Alexa flies to LA. She stays at Chateau Marmont and lands back in London on april 29th

APR 30th: Alexa posts a pic of Miles that she took a few days ago on Chateau Marmont. She deletes it after people starts asking if Alex was there too (since Miles stays at Alex place when he is in LA and they were hanging out a lot those days)

MAY 2nd to 13th: Arctic Monkeys are touring in New Zealand and Australia

MAY 10th: Arielle was seen in NY with Matty Healy and on her instagram she confirms she’s there

Alexa stays in NY until may 13th and then flies to London. Alex is in London too.

MAY 16th: Poppy Delevingne (one of Alexa’s best friends) weds James Cook in London. Alexa attends and Alex is photographed leaving the wedding party alone. It was a private wedding and Poppy didn’t allow guests to post pictures on social media

MAY 23/24th: AM perform at Finsbury Park in London. Alexa was in Morocco for Poppy’s second wedding - this time an informal party where pictures are allowed.

+ Alexa’s brother, Dominic, was at Finsbury and posted a picture of Al (sooo cool cause it showed that there were no hard feelings)

++ Arielle was at a The 1975 gig that weekend and by the end of the month more pictures of her with Matty emerge on twitter and tumblr

MAY 25th: Zackery posts a pic of him and Al holding what it seems Katie’s wedding bouquet. They were in London.

MAY 26th: Zackery post this and Arielle comments:

It seems he borrowed it (or stole it as he said) from Alex *awkward face*

AM and friends were in Italy that week for Jamie and Katie’s wedding that was going to happen on May 31th. Alexa was also there and a month later one of Katie’s friend posts a picture with Katie, Kelly Boss (Nick’s girlfriend) and Alexa with the caption “Summertime… #tbt to last month in Italy”

So now things are going to start getting interesting…

JUN 2nd: Alex, Alexa and Nick were spotted at Heathrow airport. I think three guys took pictures with Alex and confirmed Alexa was with him.

JUN 3rd: Alexa attends to Glamour Awards with her sister

JUN 6th: Alex is in Germany for AM next gig and Alexa in Ibiza for a photoshoot with Poppy Delevingne

JUN 7th: On Daily Mail page

JUN 8th: Alexa is back in England. Alex has a gig in Netherlands and then a few days off until his next gig in Louisville on june 14th

JUN 16th: Alexa flies to NY.

JUN 17th: Alexa posts a picture at a Bowery’s suite

JUN 18th: Alex has a gig in NY

JUN 19th: Alex and Alexa meet in NY. Alexa posts this with the caption “Indecisive”

I want to draw attention to Katie’s comment:

JUN 20th: Pictures of Alex and Alexa together emerge and tumblr go mental. Alexa posts a picture with Jason at her flat

Now here’s the thing: Alexa has a flat in East Village, why would she staying in Bowery? (In the pictures with Al she’s holding a Bowery key and there are pics of her friends there too) More privacy? There are always paparazzis around her flat. Alex spent probably two days in NY at most, cause he had a gig in Dover on 20th (and he chooses to spend his only day off with Alexa hmm). Alexa checks out of the hotel as soon Alex leaves NY.

On tumblr a girl relates she saw them at a hotel restaurant (?) and that they went outside to smoke and that’s when the pictures were taken. She also says she heard some of their conversation but she won’t tell it since they were being very discreet and would be very creepy if she did. I don’t remember her url but she answered a few Arctic Monkeys and Alexa’s fans so I’m sure I was not the only one who saw that story. I don’t know if it’s true too, I’m just leaving this here

JUN 23th: Alexa tweets this (and deletes it again)

JUN 24th: Alexa flies to England. Alex goes on touring until june 25th and then flies to England too

JUN 27th: Alexa heads to Glastonbury with her brother and friends

Alex was spotted with Miles at Wimbledon on 28th and 30th (Alexa was there on 24th). I don’t know if he attended Glastonbury this year, I find it unlikely cause there were no pictures but maybe he did

JUL 1st: Alexa attends to a Serpentine Gallery’s event and afterparty. At the end of july someone would comment on Daily Mail:

It’s possible. Back when Alex and Alexa dated it was very common Alexa arrive to an event alone and pose for photographers and later we see pictures of Alex there too. He used to skip red carpets and pictures, and who has been following Alex for years knows he’s a ninja at this.

Alexa is the july cover of Glamour UK and in the interview she says she’s dating someone:

These interviews are usually made about two months before the edition comes out, so I’m assuming this is from may/june.

Some has speculated she was referring to Chris Martin, but I doubt it. Alexa was spotted having dinner and chatting with Chris in may, and by the pictures I don’t think it was a romantic date. Also Chris Martin denied they were dating. He was linked to Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and other women and never bothered to deny the reports, but he did with Alexa. Why? They’re friends for some time, maybe he knew Alexa was in a relationship? I also think he knows Alex, as he was watching Arctic Monkeys at Glastonbury last year from backstage.

+ On july 1st Coldplay had a gig in London and Chris was seen with Jennifer Lawrence at the afterparty, while Alexa was at Serpentine party (and reportedly kissing Alex)

If Alexa was no longer dating her publicist would’ve contacted the magazine to change or write off the excerpt from the interview, many celebrities do it.

And seriously guys… the reports said Chris was “helping Alexa into music business”. Bullshit. Alexa once said that although she is a very musical person she would never venture herself on recording an album or something like that. Press was only trying to link him with anyone after his divorce.

JUL 7th: It’s Alex day off and he has a gig next day in France. So both him and Alexa were in France

JUL 13th: AM performs at TinP and Alex intro for She’s Thunderstorms was “I wanna play a love song cause I love ya”

1) Alexa was in Scotland 2) She’s Thunderstorms is known as “a song about Alexa” 3) Alex and Alexa reportedly started dating at T in the Park back in 2007.

JUL 19th: Alexa attends to the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Final in London

Arctic Monkeys have 10 days off. I think there were no Alex spottings

JUL 21th: Alexa flies to Malawi for an Oxfam project

After that I’m not sure where was she.

JUL 27th: Alex was in LA:

JUL 30th: AM have a gig in Iowa and Alexa…

“It’s just a damn t-shirt” yes… but Alexa had three years to wear an AM t-shirt and never did, why now? She’s not stupid, she knew that if she was photographed wearing it she’d be linked to Alex and their sleeping fans would resurface from the ashes. She was an Arctic Monkeys’ fan before Alex and I’m sure she still is, but I don’t think she would wear that shirt just for the sake of it and aware of the reaction she was going to receive.

Besides, if she was dating someone else I don’t think he would be happy with her hanging out with her ex or wearing a t-shirt from her ex’s band, you know? The last thing she would want was to be linked to Alex.

Fun fact: the announcement of their breakup came out on july 30th, 2011. Alexa was spotted wearing this t-shirt on july 30th, 2014. Exactly three years later.

AUG 1ST: AM perform at Lollapalooza and then go on touring in America until 12th. After that 3 days off.

AUG 7th: Alexa goes to London. On 12th she attends to a signing for her book and on 14th to a photocall for her collection with Nails Inc. One of the fans who was there:

On tumblr I saw someone saying she/he could see Alexa side stage, I think at Reading. I watched the shows before seeing the comment so I wasn’t paying attention to anything other than AM and personally can’t vouch is true. And as far as I knew she was still on vacation. But then she posted on instagram something about jet lag and later a pic at The Strokes’ gig in LA.

AUG 30TH: David posts a pic with Alexa and Katie in LA. “Happy Families”.

AUG 31TH: Alexa lands in NY for work commitments and NYFW.

Alex tours until 5th, the last gig before another hiatus.

SEP 2ND: Alexa tweets this and deletes again due to comments.

SEP 10TH: Alexa’s meet and greet at Sephora in NY for her collab with Nails Inc.

Story 1: “okay so she was doing this thing for nails inc at sephora so Natalia and I went and waited for an hour or so and then she showed up and looked so!!! pretty!!! and the second alexa showed up the arctic monkeys cover of “you know i’m no good” started playing and I thought that was funny” (x) (x)

SEP 17TH: Alex is spotted in Hollywood.

SEP 20TH: Alex, Matt, Nick and Jamie are in Lincolnshire for Tom Rowley’s wedding.

**Alexa spotted in London on 20th, but she posts on her ig only on 22th.

SEP 27TH: Alex goes to Paolo Nutini’s concert in LA. (I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning but anyway… it was Arielle’s birthday and she was in Las Vegas with friends)

SEP 30TH: Alexa attends Chanel runway for PFW in Paris. Then says on her ig she is heading to LA.
