Alexa Chung Reportedly Asked A DJ To Turn Off A Song By Her Ex ...

Hearing a song you shared with an ex after the breakup can be a painful experience, but how about when said ex is in a band? It’s nearly unavoidable as Alexa Chung has learned. The music aficionado, model and designer apparently was caught in an awkward position at a Paris Fashion Week event — the Chez Away pop-up hotel — when her former boyfriend Alex Turner’s voice came on as a DJ played ““Fluorescent Adolescent,” an Arctic Monkeys song from their 2007 album Favourite Worst Nightmare, which is one way to describe a former relationship.

Unwilling to hear the song, or bored by a decade-old song that peaked at No. 5 in the UK singles chart, Chung reportedly called on a friend, Brioni’s former creative director Justin O’Shea, to request that the DJ change it, according to Page Six. Instead, Chung suggested that the DJ play a Rolling Stones song, an idea that may have come from Chung herself considering the music festival staple is such a big fan. “I was lucky enough to watch the Rolling Stones from side of stage a few years ago and it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen,” she told W this summer of her favorite Glastonbury memory.

To do a bit of rewinding, Chung has recently gone through another breakup with Alexander Skarsgård, and it’s been six years since she and Turner have broken up, which she opened up about several years ago. The cause? “It was various people,” she told The Guardian in 2013. “There was one big thing, and then there were various ill-advised flings I had to get over him, so yeah. Is this gross to talk about? I feel he wouldn’t talk about it. I don’t know how relevant it is now, whereas if you asked me at the time, ‘How you doing?’ No one even asked… But I don’t know whether to be open and vulnerable about it and say, ‘I had a s–t time’, or to be quiet.”

In the same interview, Chung also talked about how the pair have remained friends since then, adding, “I’m grateful for the experience of that time, and for being on my own. I’d never really been on my own before–I’d always gone from one relationship to the next–so I had to learn all this stupid stuff. Like, how do I work my TV? And now there isn’t a dude to tell me how to put up the blinds. But it’s good to learn how to work your way round a drill.”
