Amazon Prime Day 2022 Date & What Sales To Expect

Prime Day isn’t here yet, but it’s never too early to start building out those wishlists. We’re expecting to see notable discounts on tons of electronics across the board if you've got tech on the mind. We want to ensure you’re seeing the best discounts on all our Wirecutter favorites, so we’ll continue to provide coverage up to and during Prime Day.

Prime Day Kindle and Echo deals

Bookworms rejoice, ebook readers like the Kindle Paperwhite Kids and kid-focused tablets like the Fire HD8 are expected to go on sale this year. We’ve already noted deals as low as $89 on our top ebook reader, and hope to see even better during Prime Day. Smart speakers see regular discounts throughout the year, but we should see even more notable sales over Prime, including deals on our favorite smart displays, like the Echo Show 8 and 5.

Prime Day Switch and Xbox deals

Gamers might have an opportunity to save this year on newer consoles and accessories. Both the Xbox Series S and the Nintendo Switch are predicted to make an appearance, hopefully matching (or beating) their previous lows of around $250 and $260, respectively. We also expect deals on gaming peripherals like controllers and headsets.

Prime Day laptop and tech deals

Between shipping delays and chip shortages, laptops have been in short supply during recent Prime events, but we’re hoping to see a decent showing from Lenovo and HP this year. We’ve posted a handful of $300 deals on the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 (13″), but have yet to see it drop any lower. If you’re on the lookout for smart home gear (like smart lighting, thermostats, and plugs) or other peripherals (like headphones and gaming mice), Prime Day will be your best chance to save until Cyber Week. The Google Nest thermostat is already on sale for $100, but we’ve seen deals as low as $150 for a two-pack in the past.

Prime Day Apple deals

Our top Macbook pick, the Macbook Air sees semi-regular sales in a few configurations, but Apple recently announced a lineup of new Macbooks with M2 chips—as well as a new (and coveted) midnight finish—so while we may see notable discounts over Prime Day, Apple fans may want to hold out for what’s coming. That said, we will almost certainly see sales on iPads, including the new iPad Air, the Mini, and the 9th generation iPad. We also expect sales on a variety of Apple Watch models.

Prime Day Kitchen and Home Deals

Small kitchen appliances are well-discounted every Prime Day and we expect more of the same this year. Expect deals on air fryers, pressure cookers like the Instant Pot, personal blenders, and even the odd deal on higher-end kitchen brands like Breville and Vitamix. Vacuums are also among the products we see discounted the most. Upright vacuums and robot vacuums will almost certainly see sales.

That only scratches the surface. We’re predicting sales on even more product categories, from home security systems to hair dryers to last-gen smartphones, and everything in between. We’ll continue to update this piece with what we know—but only time will tell if these Prime Day deals cut the mustard.
