About Art History

Learn how to successfully express your ideas in a wide range of visual arts media as well as in the spoken and written word.

Art History project-based assignments motivate learning about culturally diverse art work from ancient to contemporary times while strengthening your analytical, creative and design thinking and problem solving approaches. As a student of art history, you will also gain valuable skills and background knowledge for careers in fashion, design, advertising, architecture, photography, and content creation.

Studying Art History can lead to a variety of different jobs or career paths. Below are just some of the many options you will have!

  • As an art journalist, cover the latest news from the art world to foster a better-informed society.
  • As an editor or image rights researcher, publish books about art history to share the latest findings from the field.
  • As an art librarian, be a steward of knowledge about art history and assist students and researchers in finding information.
  • As an art teacher or art therapist encourage learning about and valuing oneself and others As an art critic, curator, art director or gallery docent provide opportunities for people to engage in the arts and social action
