Bwatts1914 B I’m in SC I sprayed some yards back in February with Atrazine at 1qt to the acre and speedzone southern at 1qt to the acre I have one yard that the owner called me yesterday and said centipede appears to be dead anyone else had this issue or is it maybe slow green up bc of the cooler weather? I haven’t looked at yard yet #1 · Apr 21, 2018 I’m in SC I sprayed some yards back in February with Atrazine at 1qt to the acre and speedzone southern at 1qt to the acre I have one yard that the owner called me yesterday and said centipede appears to be dead anyone else had this issue or is it maybe slow green up bc of the cooler weather? Is the yard shady and maybe slower to green up? Take a soil temp and compare it to other greener centipede lawns I have noticed some centipedes that are dormant looking that are left tall and the dead winter top not cut down that aren't greening up. And I've seen some that started to green up and then the frost burnt them. Centipedes a finicky on for sure and not all are the same. Sometimes I think they should almost only be sprayed after full greenup and just mow/live with a few weeds. Let us know what you find out. #5 · Apr 22, 2018 I'm about 20 miles north of you and my centipede is still dormant. #6 · Apr 22, 2018 Last year My front yard greened up nicely but my back yard was still dormant, I checked my soil temps, the ph , I checked it all . I found that I had an infestation of Japanese beetles and grubs in the soil which will make a yard look patchy and have a late green up. I put down sevins granules to control the pests and this season the front yard already green as usual , the back yard is coming along but still dormant is some places . Its a lot better than last season so I believe by the end of the season she'll be back to normal hopefully. Youd be amazed what these pests will do to centipede. Go to the home and dig a hole about 3 inches down , I would usually find a patch of crab grass or weed that needed to be pulled (that's usually the depth you'll find the pests when the roots come up as you pull) and you'll either see black bugs or white grubs . I usually find a weed (even though my lawn doesn't have many but we all have one or two in early spring) they hold more moisture in the dirt and that's where the pests wanna be. Hope this helps, nothing more aggravating than a problematic lawn #7 · Apr 22, 2018 I’m hoping to go check it out tomorrow and do some research I was really concerned about the atrazine because I have had people tell me after I sprayed a bunch of it that it will burn a yard up #8 · Apr 22, 2018 Average soil temps are barely in the 60s here in eastern NC. Nothing has really greener up 100% yet. I am seeing some lawns that have potential winter damage but won’t really know til more green up shows if anything will come out #9 · Apr 23, 2018 Ok I went and checked the yard out is actually green for the most part there were a few places that were still brown but I did see where moles were active in the yard mainly looked like where weeds were killed and grass just hasn’t had a chance to fill in gonna try to do some grub and mole cricket control now Insert Quotes Post Reply
