How Long Does the Audi Q5 Battery Last?
The Audi Q5 battery will last for between 3 to 4 years, depending on use.
Audi Q5 Key Battery Type
The type of battery in the Audi Q5 key fob is a CR 2032. It looks like a silver disc and can be purchased online or stores that stock batteries.
Audi Q5 Mk 1 Key Battery Replacement

Use this technique to replace the key fob battery for the Audi Q5 / SQ5 first generation (Mk 1, 2008-2017). An indication that the battery requires replacing is if the check light in the key (C) no longer illuminates when a button on the master key is pressed.
Additionally, a warning light will illuminate on the dashboard display
informing you that the battery requires replacing. The message: ‘Please change key battery’ may display.
- Remove the mechanical key from the master key fob by pressing the release button (A), then pull the mechanical key from the master key in the direction of the arrows.
- Remove the battery holder from the master key by pressing the release button (D) whilst at the same time pull out the battery holder in the direction of the arrow.
- Remove the dead battery and replace with a new CR 2032 with the ‘+’ sign facing down.
- Reinsert the battery holder and click in place.
- Reinsert the mechanical key and click in place.
- Press a button on the remote key fob and check that the LED illuminates as confirmation.
Audi Q5 Mk 2 Key Battery Replacement

Use this technique to replace the key fob battery for the Audi Q5 / SQ5 second generation (Mk 2, 2018-present).
If the LED on the key fob no longer illuminates (A) when a button is pressed, it means the battery is dead and requires replacing. The vehicle key low battery warning light may also illuminate
along with a message warning that the battery is low.
- First remove the mechanical key from the fob by pressing buttons (B) and pulling the mechanical in the direction of the arrow.
- Now you’ll need to remove the battery holder by pressing buttons (C) and pulling in the direction of the arrow.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new CR 2032 battery with the ‘+’ facing down.
- Slide the battery holder back into the key fob and click in place.
- Reinsert the mechanical key until it clicks in place.
- Press a button on the remote key fob and check that the LED illuminates as confirmation.
