Australians remember Vietnam Veterans

18 August is Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day.

On this day, Australians join together at ceremonies across Australia to honour the 60,000 men and women who served the nation during the Vietnam War.

The Vietnam War was the longest major war in which Australians were involved. It lasted for more than 10 years from 1962 and saw 521 Australians killed and more than 3,000 injured.

As an appreciation of the sacrifices made by the war veterans, Australian government has established the Long Tan Bursary scheme to help funding of Vietnam veterans’ children’s tertiary education.
