JS1981 J I am wanting to bump up this speed in order to overclock better since my multiplier is limited to 39, but I am wondering how it will affect my graphics card in doing so. As I am wanting to overclock my processor , not my graphics card. Board is Gigabyte GA-z68xp-ud3 and processor obviously is I7-3770K. I am running a Noctua NH-D15 fan on it. #1 · Mar 13, 2016 I am wanting to bump up this speed in order to overclock better since my multiplier is limited to 39, but I am wondering how it will affect my graphics card in doing so. But to answer your question, you can probably run ~2%-3% over/under without too much issue. Any higher/lower will result in unnecessary and un-beneficial strain on essentially every other piece of hardware in your rig. i.e. your sata controller will be getting hammered, but your HDD speeds wont be any faster. Newer processors have the DMI decoupled from the BCLK, and this type of over clocking is much more common. Sure you can do it on IVY, just don't expect a miracle boost to performance due to everything being tied to DMI #3 · Mar 14, 2016 Z68 chipset limits the CPU ratio to 39x on Ivy Bridge unlocked CPUs. The only way to solve this issue is by flashing the latest bios. Do not flash the beta bios that is UEFI as that has some issues and is difficult to downgrade to a previous version. Or alternatively you can get a Z77 motherboard which will support overclocking past 39x. #4 · Mar 18, 2016 Yeah I have the latest one that isn't beta and that's kind of why I didn't flash to the newest lol. That and my raid setup. As for Ined, yes it is a 3770K and not 3770. Good board for it's time, just hate that multiplier limit lol. Sorry for late response just been busy.
