  • There are currently 105 Blue Magic Spells available in the FFXIV Free Trial.
  • Blue Mage is a special class that operates much differently than others: they learn their skills from enemies! You only start out with a single spell, Water Cannon. To learn more spells for your Blue Magic Spellbook, you need to watch mobs use certain attacks, and then once defeated, you’ll learn the spell! You must be alive when this happens, and you do not need to be hit by the attack.
  • Chances to learn spells in the open world or the Masked Carnivale are RNG based. If in an instance, like a dungeon, chances of learning a spell are 100% if it is run Synced. Otherwise, running Unsynced will give you a lower chance.
  • Whalaqee Totems are given by Wayward Gaheel Ja, in Ul’dah. (12.5, 13.0) This is near the Blue Mage trainer, Martyn. (Weaver’s Guild teleport) To claim a totem, you’ll need to finish the required quests and other requirements, listed below.
  • It’s recommended to have a high level friend power level you before doing any serious spell collecting. Blue Mages gain boosted EXP in the open world, have someone take you to a high level area for this. As a Blue Mage, be the first to hit a mob, and then have your friend kill it! You cannot be in a party while doing this, however. You’ll be max level in a few hours at most!
