Career Summary

Bruce Arians was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1989 to 2021, finishing his career as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over his twenty-eight years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 269-178-2. During his career he was a head coach for eight seasons, first with the Arizona Cardinals. He led the Cardinals for five seasons, compiling a record of 49-30-1. He retired from the Cardinals on Monday, January 1, 2018. His next head coaching stint was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 to 2021, as he led the team to a 31-18-0 record. In 2020, the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9. He retired from the Buccaneers on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 80-48-1 across eight seasons including going 6-3-0 in the playoffs.

Career Awards

Arians won the NFL's Coach of the Year award two times throughout his career, most recently in 2014 after guiding the Cardinals to a 11-5-0 record and a berth in the playoffs.

Before he was a head coach, Arians served as an assistant coach for Marty Schottenheimer, Jim E. Mora (Sr.), Butch Davis, Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin, and Chuck Pagano. During his time as head coach, two assistant coaches, (Todd Bowles and Freddie Kitchens) on his coaching staff were hired as head coaches across the league.
