Can I resume interrupted uploads or downloads? Updated on 16 October 2025

Yes, interrupted file transfers are able to be retried and can usually be resumed automatically. This behaviour varies according to what you’re using to download or upload your data.

In a web browser

• Uploads
  • Can’t be resumed (except due to network interruption of less than 10 minutes).
• Downloads
  • Can be resumed in Chromium-based browsers, such as Chrome, Opera, Microsoft Edge, etc. Note: Firefox and Safari do not support transfer resumption at the moment.

Downloads will resume after a network interruption, transfer quota depleted warning, unexpected browser closure or browser reload, or your device having entered standby or sleep mode (for less than 48 hours), as long as you do not clear the browser cache.

In the Android and iOS apps

Transfers will automatically resume unless you turn off your device, log out from the app, or in rare cases when the OS decides to kill the running app.

Note

The “Wi-Fi only” option in our Android app is only available for Camera uploads transfers.If you manually start an upload or download with wi-fi and then you experience a loss of wi-fi connectivity, your download or upload will complete using your mobile data.

In the desktop app

If you use our desktop app, transfers will automatically resume unless you manually log out of your account from the desktop app.

Warning

Our servers automatically discard incomplete transfers after 48 hours of inactivity.
