Code Vein is a proper Dark Souls-like, with one crucial difference that makes it a lot more than just a copycat - it has full online co-op! You and a partner can take on the incredibly difficult challenges on offer - which makes it incredibly frustrating if you hit a problem, such as the Code Vein Failed to Initiate Multiplayer Session error message.

If you try to play with another player you may get the error and be unable to play entirely, whereas other times you may manage to get an online co-op session - only for your partner to suddenly disappear, and the 'Failed to Initiate Multiplayer Session' message pop up instead. But is there a fix for this incredibly annoying problem?

There's nothing more annoying than trying to get a co-op game going in any title, and getting an error message that stops you - with no obvious way to fix it. The 'Failed to Initiate Multiplayer Session' message seems most prevalent on the Steam version, but also occurs on PS4 and Xbox One if there's a problem.

So what's causing it - and is there a fix? Well, the most common problem on PC is that your Steam region code is not compatible with the person you're trying to play a game with. To fix this, you'll have to exit the game and go into Steam settings. Click on the Downloads options page, then change the region here to the same one as your friend. Reload Code Vein, try to join their game, and you should stop getting that annoying error message - hopefully!
