FAQs

How can you tell if the brats are done?

When your brats are done, they’ll smell wonderful!  If you spear them with an instant-read meat thermometer, the internal temperature should register 160 F. If you cut one open, it will be white and firm throughout. If you squeeze one between your thumb and forefinger it should be firm but just a little bouncy.

How far should I space my brats on the baking tray?

While you might be tempted to cram them in there and economize on space, brats will cook better if there’s room for the hot air to circulate between them. Plan on leaving about an inch between each brat.

What can I serve with brats cooked in the oven?

Serve beer brats on large French bread rolls or hoagie rolls. Go standard with ketchup, mustard, relish… Or dress it up with peppers and onions and a big helping of sauerkraut. cooking sauteed peppers and onions topping for brats in oven

What is the difference between sausage and bratwurst?

Bratwurst is a type of fresh link sausage that originated in Germany, and is traditionally made with either pork or veal. Flavored with nutmeg, pepper, lemon zest and salt, these sausages are typically less processed than your average hot dog and have fewer preservatives.
