Do you work in a noisy environment that requires earplugs to be regularly worn as hearing protection? You will only benefit from the full protective effect of your hearing protection if you insert it correctly and correctly clean reusable earplugs. In this blog article, we show you how to use disposable and reusable earplugs correctly and introduce our latest hearing protection innovation – the uvex xact-fit reusable.

Using earplugs correctly

Before we discuss how to use your hearing protection correctly, you need to decide which type of earplug is the right one for you: disposable or reusable? Disposable earplugs can be comfortably worn even for long periods but can only be used once. In comparison, reusable earplugs are always to hand and are easy to clean so they can be reused.

Whichever option you choose, your hearing protection must be used correctly to ensure optimum protection.

Correctly inserting disposable earplugs

1. Briefly roll the uvex disposable earplugs between your fingers.
2. Reach over your head with your arm and gently pull the ear up, so that the ear canal is straight.
3. Insert uvex earplugs and briefly hold them in place. If the earplugs cannot be seen from the front, they are in the right position.

Disposable earplugs are thrown away after each use.

Correctly inserting and cleaning reusable earplugs

1. 1. Hold the ends of the uvex reusable earplugs and place the cord behind your head.
   2. Using gentle pressure, insert the earplugs into the ear canal.

Particularly in dusty and dirty working environments, particles can easily stick to the surface of your earplugs and cause minor injuries in the ear canal if used again. It is therefore very important to clean reusable earplugs and to do this correctly.

We recommend simply cleaning your earplugs with the uvex moist cleaning cloth, or cleaning them with water and mild soap. When you are not using your reusable earplugs, you should store them in the uvex Hygiene Box, so that the earplugs remain clean and undamaged until the next use.
