Daredevil: Gripping trailer for season three

When is Daredevil season 3 out?

Daredevil season three will be released by Netflix at midnight California time on Friday, October 19 on Netflix.

This means UK fans will have to wait until 8am the same day to meet the new cast of Daredevil, and see what state Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) is in after the events of The Defenders.

All 13 episodes of the new season of Daredevil will be released at once, giving you the perfect chance to binge the Marvel series over the weekend.

Who will be in Daredevil season 3?

Charlie Cox confirmed on a podcast that he would be returning to the Netflix show as the visually-impaired vigilante, as are series regulars Deborah Ann Woll (played by Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson).

In an interview with Collider, Woll teased fans about what would happen to her character in the new season. 

She said: “Knowing what I know about Karen’s upbringing and what we’re going to do with that, I think she has ideas about what she wants, but every time she gets close to that, it’s not satisfying.

Also returning is crime boss Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), who was a series regular in season one and spent season two of the Marvel series in prison.

Joining the season are Wilson Bethel and Rahul Nadeem, both playing FBI agents who will be involved in the battle between Daredevil and Kingpin.

Wolf Hall actor Joanne Whalley has also been added to the cast.

She will be playing Maggie, the character mentioned in the last moments of The Defenders and who is rumoured to be Daredevil’s mother.

Another big change is the hiring of Erik Oleson as showrunner after Marco Ramirez and Douglas Petrie left to run The Defenders.

He has previously worked on superhero show Arrow, as well as Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle.

What will happen in Daredevil season 3?

Last time we saw Daredevil at the end of The Defenders, he was recovering from his injuries and being looked after by nuns after fighting Elektra (Elodie Yung) in the crumbling Midland Circle building.

This seems to reference Daredevil story Born Again, a 1986 comic in which Murdock is targeted by Fisk after Karen Page sells out her ex after becoming addicted to heroin. After Murdock’s life is destroyed, only his mother Sister Maggie can save him.

However, it is also rumoured that Bethel will be playing villain Bullseye, a classic Daredevil villain who can throw any object with complete accuracy.

This character was previously played by Colin Farrell in the 2003 film version of Daredevil.

Speculation about this character joining the series began after a picture of a Daredevil crew jacket was posted to Instagram featuring Bullseye’s logo.

Is there a trailer for Daredevil season 3?

So far, Marvel have released three teaser trailers for the series. 

The first, released in June 2016, showed a sign for Daredevil’s Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood. The lights go out, and when they come back out the sign is splattered with blood.

A second trailer, released after The Defenders in October 2017, was released on the show’s Twitter page. It showed a funeral leaflet for Matt Murdock in text and braille. The tweet was captioned “I’m fine”.

A third was released in September 2018, and announced the release date of the series. You can watch it above.
