Early Life and Education

David Baszucki was born on January 20, 1963, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where he also went to Eden Prairie High School.

After high school, David studied engineering and computer science at Stanford University. He finished his studies in 1985. He was a General Motors Scholar, focusing on electrical engineering.

Building New Companies

In the late 1980s, David Baszucki and his brother, Greg Baszucki, started a company called Knowledge Revolution. This company became famous for a computer program called "Interactive Physics." It was like the first animated computer physics lab. "Interactive Physics" let people do 2D physics experiments on a computer, just as if they were in a real science lab.

In 1998, a bigger company called MSC Software bought Knowledge Revolution.

Creating Roblox

In December 2003, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel started working on an early version of Roblox. The website officially launched in 2004. The game itself was officially released on September 1, 2006.

David Baszucki owns a part of the Roblox Corporation, which is the company that owns Roblox. He has said that any money he earns in the future from Roblox being listed on the New York Stock Exchange will be given away to help others.

Helping Others

David Baszucki supports many groups that help people. In March 2021, he and his wife started the Baszucki Brain Research Fund. This fund gives money to research programs that study bipolar disorder. In December 2021, they also launched the Baszucki Lymphoma Therapeutics Initiative. This program aims to make treatments for lymphoma patients easier to get.
