Controversies[]

The Hatch/Teddy Situation[]

On June 11, 2025 Roblox announced Egg Hunt 2025 called "The Hatch,"[7] which took place between July 2nd and July 12th of the following year.

Days after the announcement, fans say there's gonna 1,000 eggs[8] in the event which makes fans unhappy because they assume it'll take hours to get all 1,000 eggs, rumors saying Roblox is using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to make the eggs in the event which sparks rage because they figure out that "Eggs must be in the lobby and only take 2-3 minutes to find".[9]

On June 17, 2025, fans found out that Roblox invited a Condo developer, TheOfficialTeddy.[10] A developer known for their games targeted towards children and adults to have sexual actions and conversations with one another. This causes multiple developers to pull out of the event,[11] as well as hashtags such as "#BoycottTheHatch".

On June 20, 2025, Roblox posted a tweet saying that TheOfficialTeddy was not invited to the event and he was removed from event, but people were still angry due to Roblox saying they "have taken appropriate action in accordance with our policies."[12] This makes people outraged and makes some to believe that Roblox is protecting and even supporting pedophiles and condo developers.

On June 28, 2025, greenlegocats123 discovered that one of the huge Roblox games that mainly has players doing inappropriate actions to each other called Meepcity[13] was invited to the event. As Greenlegocats discovered that Alex and his game were invited to event, fans were not very happy about this because of Meepcity being very inappropriate to kids because of their "party" feature.[14]

On June 30, 2025, Roblox posted a tweet saying that they banned TheOfficialTeddy after investigating his account, games, and groups.[15] This made fans joyful after complaining for weeks. Greenlegocats123 posted a tweet saying "Teddy may be banned but we still have a lot of work to do in the fight against online dating, degeneracy, and pedatory behavior on Roblox. This has been a big victory in an even bigger battle. Continue fighting the good fight to make Roblox a safer space for all."[16]

Right after TheOfficialTeddy was banned. greenlegocats123 found out that Teddy's games were not banned,[citation needed] which made fans more angry at Roblox due to not banning his games. Because according to the post that Roblox posted a link about the Teddy ban, "In the case of TheOfficialTeddy, we investigated in accordance with this criteria. We asked the creator to make changes to the experience to comply with our Standards regarding user abuse within experiences, and they were able to comply within our timeline. However, in the course of our investigation, we also confirmed a separate outstanding policy violation that cannot be rectified. As a result, the user behind TheOfficialTeddy and the groups they own are no longer permitted on Roblox, and we are removing the ability to play their games until we know there is an owner who can run the games in compliance with our Community Standards."[17] This made fans more upset and confused because they chose not to ban his games because they're looking for a new person to run the games.

Roblox Cease and Desist[]

On August 8, 2025, Roblox Corporation issued a cease-and-desist letter to Schlep, citing alleged violations of the platform’s Community Standards. According to Roblox, Schlep’s content—which involved posing as a minor in order to engage with suspected predators—constituted “simulated child endangerment conversations,” the “sharing or soliciting of personally identifiable information,” and the facilitation of off-platform communication.[18]

Following the notice, Roblox permanently terminated all accounts associated with Schlep, including those created years earlier, and Baszucki blocked Schlep on Twitter.[19] In a public response, Schlep described being groomed on Roblox as a minor, which he linked to a suicide attempt, and stated that these experiences motivated his later investigative work. He asserted that most of his evidence gathering occurred via Discord or was shared directly with law enforcement, and criticized Roblox for what he viewed as inadequate safety measures.[20]

The decision prompted a social media response, with hashtags such as #FreeSchlep and #BoycottRoblox gaining traction among his supporters as well as famous content creators such as MoistCr1TiKaL[21], xQc[22], KreekCraft[23] and Flamingo critics of the ban argued that it targeted an independent effort to identify and report potential predators, while supporters of Roblox’s action maintained that such operations should be conducted by trained professionals within established legal frameworks.

On August 12th, 2025, Roblox Corporation responded:[24]

It’s important to speak with the right sources to really understand how vigilante individuals and groups operate (e.g., violating policies around sharing PII [personally identifiable information], engaging in sexual conversations, lying about their ages, etc.), all while having a profit motive to evade detection instead of providing companies like ours with all the information to take the necessary action.[sic]

―Roblox Corporation

Schlep responded by stating:

"We send you EVERYTHING. We create you youtube videos showcasing the chatlogs, we send you the GOOGLE DRIVES we give to the COPS. You never made a line with me, and in MULTIPLE INSTANCES you ONLY ban ARRESTED predators after I release a massive video on it. The whole roblox community sees how flawed this argument is, it’s because EVERYONE has seen anecdotally THAT REPORTS VERY RARELY WORK….. if your stance on safety is really true WHY ARE THERE BATHROOM SHOWER GAMES FOR CHILDREN. EVEN THE JOURNALIST SAW THAT!"[sic]

―Schlep

On August 13, 2025 Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna made a TikTok stating that Roblox is not a safe place and asked people to sign a petition so Roblox could see it.[25][26] On that same day Roblox issued another response to the Drama where they say that people like Schlep are "Similar to actual predators" on Roblox.[27] On August 14, 2025, Roblox started warning players and deleting items for containing mentions of Schlep.[28] In response to this situation KreekCraft has left the Roblox video stars program.[29]

Around August 21, 2025, Law by Mike is involved as he explains what schlep can legally do. He says that Schlep was banned from Roblox due to accusations of unsafe roleplay conversations, sharing personal info, and moving users off the platform, but most of these aren't true. According to Schlep, Roblox banned him from the platform because he shows how unsafe the game is to children due to inappropriate avatars, online dating, hangout games, and even predators. Fighting a ban can be tough because courts let companies enforce their own rules, but according to Law by Mike Schlep, you can fight back. He can argue that Roblox can't even enforce their own rules in their game, even preds, and that the ban was retaliation for exposing safety flaws in a game. But that's not all. Schlep was one of the 500 survivors who wanted to sue Roblox, because in Iowa, a 13-year-old says she was lured from her house by a 37-year-old she met on Roblox. And in Texas a former marine says he was targetted as a child, According to lawsuits, roblox is 100% unsafe due to weak age check, adults messaging kids in game and even allowing disturbing games on platform like example: Escape to Epstein Island, Diddy Party, Public Bathroom Simulator, Etc. and worst of all they claimed that Roblox misled the parents that it was safe but in reality it's not.

Amid the controversy, Roblox fixed 2 big issues in the game. Firstly, they forced Alexnewtron, the controversial creator of the equally controversial game MeepCity, to remove the avatar editor, custom bios, and even custom avatars from their game, all of which had been abused by dozens of problematic players to for inappropriate behaviour. After that update, the fans went wild as they were excited that MeepCity is no longer a problem. The game first became problematic in 2016 due to the additional of parties, which were mostly used for inappropriate activity. Rumors began circulating that problematic former MeepCity players would move to Catalog Avatar Creator. Roblox also started banning inappropriate avatars, which made fans more excited, but most of them know that they need to wait for Roblox to unban Schlep.[30]
