It'll sound bad at first, but I believe in enough transparency for people to understand, so hang in there with me.It's been years since I started The Isle as a backlogged thought, busily jot down in a composition notebook in an apartment so close I can quite literally throw a rock from where I am sitting and land it on the patio where it all began. In some ways we as a community have come so far that I can look back and can't measure the distance from where we are now to where we began. Yet, in other ways I personally am still in the same place I started. I've thrown everything I can into this project from the moment we put pen to paper. I knew this is what I wanted and where I wanted to go with it. Some of the time it's been easy and sometimes it's been difficult beyond compare. The problem I'm faced with is that I have thrown all of my heart and soul into the project and absolutely nothing else has received fair treatment from me. I've grown as a developer, but not really as a person. I don't really have a life or reality outside of The Isle and my silent projects. For five years I've attempted to take breaks from development and they last no longer than a day or two before I find myself doing work because it's simply all I know how to do. I've sacrificed family, friends, and time for the benefit of the project, because I believed the project deserved all of my attention. However, I ultimately have to admit that I'm at the limit of attention I can give without breaking down entirely. Inevitably life goes by and I've dismissed it for the sake of work, and there are things I have on the table I cannot dismiss and things I have to repair or let go. #3 ⭐Kuro⭐ View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 4:45am It's taken me over five years to reach empty on the tank. A bizarre piece of me wants to boast that fact, but ultimately I'm ashamed to acknowledge that I was capable of ignoring important matters such as love, friends, and family, for five years. My mental state is exhausted to the point of poor functionality when it's there at all. It's destroying me as a man and dehabilitating me as a developer. I need to step away for a while, placing faith in my team to carry out directives that I know will continue the project forward while I take time to repair myself. I'm leaving you in capable hands far better than my own; I know everything will be alright. You all be good,- Dondi #4 ⭐Kuro⭐ View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 4:45am What does this mean for you? Not much will change for you guys other than Don's presence. Our management team has been making executive decisions that keep the wheels on the bus turning and have created the space for Don to take some much needed time to work on himself, while we keep making really cool stuff for you guys. The Chairman isn't dead, he's not abandoning the ship with his dirty dino money and leaving us all to rot.Kissen and Myself have been asking him to get things together for some time now so he can focus on himself, while the rest of our management team executes on the vision he's outlined for us.In the words of a much wiser man than I, "Don't Panic." Kissen, Punch, Hypno, Filipe and Myself will keep delivering and keep things moving forward. We would appreciate and I personally, would appreciate if you guys would respect that Don is taking some time for himself. He's left us with the keys to the kingdom and while I know that his post is going to get some folks spun up and that's just an unavoidable aspect of being open about any changes of a personal nature, there's no cause for concern. Thanks for the support gang and here's to a bright future!-Paradym #5 ⭐Kuro⭐ View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 4:47am "Quote end"-Sorry for the big posts but that is what got posted on there discord. :Gale: #6 Bowseroppo (She/Her) View Profile View Posts (Banned) 23 Jul, 2020 @ 5:27am This is what im sorry to say i knew would happen, while im glad don is finally walking away i do think this could be the end. He is only taking a break so calm down people, not even for that long too for all we know too plus they also stated that nothing will really change for us while he is on a break so no its not the end of the world calm down. If “nothing will really change” that’s not at all a good thing you know. #10 Wari View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 8:41am this game was probably the worst purchase i ever made.. bought the game 2 days before the new engine came out and its just a small techndemo, not worth playing at all. Even dayz standalone back in 2013 had more content... blurry graphics that gives me headache on my 2080 TI, no content, potato gameplay and no physics... So this game is really out since 2015/2016? I dont get it, sorryI know its hard do achieve a game like this with only a bunch of devs who probably do it in their freetime... but at the end of the day i spent money for nothing..its mostly always the same with early acess games. the projects starts really ambitious but after couple of years, everybody realizes that the dream was probably to big. Devs do damagecontrol, take breaks, leave the project and so an. We all saw that during the developement of dayz. Most of the content and features they promised will never happen. Im tired of supporting games like this, i spent money and all i have is a tech demo...I dont want to disrespect your product, but like i said, im so tired of supporting games with my money they dont deliver me any good experiance.. this is even more sad than dayz imo... #11 Zandarmon View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 8:53am If nothing will change when he's gone then it begs the question why is he around to begin with? You would have thought his role would be vital but it seems not as nothing will change apparently. Either Don is not needed for this game anymore or Paradym is trying to save face. #12 MattWard View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 9:56am I like how people are immediately assuming that Dondi abandoned ship when there is numerous other posts here that say he is clearly taking a break. As always, the community jumps to conclusions. #13 rustyOkin View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 10:27am That's not really a reason to flip out tbhFirst of all the Wari's comparison with DayZ is outright laughable! Dean Hall had the idea for the dayz-mod and because of its success pushed out the standalone version. He decided to release the game on the old messed up arma2 engine and the game was as expected utterly broken. He made a ton of money and left the project in its awful state. What happened afterwards was a new team picking up dayz standalone and crafted a new engine for the game, rebuild it and patched it until it became a solid gameDayZ standalone is in the best state it has ever been, all of this happened AFTER Dean Hall, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who just made money quickly and ran before anything was finishedNow compare that to Dondi. A man who put his heart and soul into The Isle, who ordered the recode, who invested ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of money because he's a perfectionist. Those who truly follow the development proccess know that Dondi wouldn't simply abandon The Isle even if he takes a long overdue break. Because of that fact alone I respect him, no matter what else you might think of him as a person

Another utterly dumb statement... Who do you think had the idea for a game like that in the first place? Why do you think games like PoT, BoB or even that dragon-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game appeared all of a sudden in an attempt to copy his idea? #14 bigmoe808 View Profile View Posts 23 Jul, 2020 @ 10:47am Did you title this to start even more drama.Dondi is taking a break and leaving the rest of devs to do the rest. Ie. What already happens on a day to day bases. The bit Dondi does is relatively small outside of telling the other team members what to do and bring to form, how it gets here is ultimately up to the rest of the team. So long as their funded, not a damn thing is gonna change or halt their progress. #15 < > Showing 1-15 of 33 comments Per page: 1530 50 The Isle > General Discussions > Topic Details Date Posted: 23 Jul, 2020 @ 2:43amPosts: 33 Discussions Rules and Guidelines Close
