The Florida state motto is “In God we Trust” which is the same as the United States national motto.
In God We Trust was adopted in 1868 as part of the State Seal and officially designated as the state’s motto in 2006.
The national motto of the United States was picked by Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase in 1863 to appear on some coinage of the “Union” side during the Civil War. This was to indicate exactly which side had the upper hand in the conflict.
