Fresh Pineapple Juice Recipe - Sandhya's Kitchen

Why Make this Recipe?

  • Only 3 ingredients – You’ll need just fresh ripe pineapples, water, and lemon juice. That’s it!
  • Easy to customise – This fresh juice recipe is super adaptable. You can add more fruits if you like, or add in a bit of ginger or basil for a refreshing flavor. Sometimes the pineapple is sweet enough on its own, so you may not even need sugar or honey.
  • So much better than store-bought ones – Plus, no preservatives!
  • Stays fresh – This juice stays good for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator, but it’s best enjoyed the same day it’s made. For longer storage, you can freeze them.
  • Easy to scale – You can easily double, triple, or even halve the batch based on how much you need.

How to Pick a Ripe Pineapple

I always go by the smell—it’s the easiest way to tell if a pineapple is ripe. Just smell the base of the fruit. If it doesn’t have much of a scent, it was probably picked too early and won’t be sweet. But if it smells sweet and fresh (just like you want the juice to taste!), it’s a good one.

I also check if it feels heavy for its size and has a slight softness when I press it gently. That usually means it’s nice and juicy—perfect for making fresh pineapple juice at home.

Ingredients

Detailed measurements and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below.

  • Pineapples – Fresh, ripe pineapples are the key to the most delicious juice. I love using the OXO Pineapple Corer—it makes prep so much easier. You don’t need to peel or cube the pineapple separately. Just cut off the top, place the corer in the center, and use the twist-and-turn action to get perfectly sliced pineapple. Alternatively, peel and core the pineapple manually, then slice or cut it into chunks.
  • Sugar / Honey – Add a sweetener depending on how sweet your pineapple is. If it's already very sweet, I usually skip it. Most times, I add about 2 tablespoons.
  • Lemon Juice – Just a little, to balance the flavors and brighten up the juice.
  • Ginger (optional) – One of my favorite add-ins. Add 1 teaspoon of fresh chopped ginger to the blender or juicer jar while juicing—this takes the pineapple juice to the next level!
