Andrewphoto A G2 Ultimate has a definite “snap” feel compared to most SRAM brakes I’ve felt. I consider it the perfect balance between traditional SRAM modulation and Shimano “on/off” feel. From what I’ve read, pivot bushing is the main reason. Does the Code RSC have the same snap feel? My current Code R does not have that snap feel, so I don’t want to upgrade (to Code RSC) unless it gives me that “snap” feel. #1 · Aug 20, 2020 G2 Ultimate has a definite “snap” feel compared to most SRAM brakes I’ve felt. So it can’t be just the pivot bearing that makes the G2 Ultimate feel so snappy, as my Code R’s dont feel similar. Is it something else about the G2 Ultimate that makes them feel snappier than my Code R’s? Or are my Code R’s just bled like crap and once bled correctly they will feel similar to the G2 Ultimate? #3 · Aug 20, 2020 Code R's have crappy aluminum caliper pistons that stick... Code RSC's (and G2 Ultimates) use phenolic pistons that don't stick. End of story! Have FUN! G MAN #4 · Aug 20, 2020 How does that affect the "snappy" feel of the lever pull? i know it affects the long descent feel as you get some fade, but not sure how that would affect the snappy feel. 1 Reply #6 · Aug 20, 2020 The Code RSC and G2 RSC feel pretty similar on regular singletrack. The Codes will ramp up the power more when you really squeeze them though. The swing link makes a big difference in how quickly the power comes on. #7 · Aug 24, 2020 I have the G2 RSC, I'm thinking of upgrading to Code RSC or Shimano XTR. I find that the G2 lacks power especially on long and steep descents. #9 · Aug 25, 2020 G2 RSC's come with horrible "semi-metallic" pads... try some metallics or Galfer Pros in front caliper and a larger front rotor (203) and save your jingo unless you're a heavyweight (over 200 lbs). I suppose it's possible there was an unannounced rolling change from the first year to follow on years, I did notice that for the Code R caliper is designated B1 while Code RSC is still designated A1. This is typical of SRAM when a line has changed. Being that caliper body has pretty much been the same as it has since the introduction of the SRAM code calipers vs the old avid code calipers used in the guide re. that change could have been from aluminum pistons to phenolic, this would support the Pinkbike article and what gman is saying.
