I have not been to Panera since becoming gluten sensitive. I am really disappointed that their GF choices were next to none. No one seemed to be able to answer my questions. The girl taking my order wanted to know if I wanted the bread as a side!!!Of all restaurant chains, you would think this one would have tried to be more empathetic to a section of the community that can’t eat gluten.

Panera does not accommodate to the gluten free community. They don’t have gluten free bread or noodles. The only thing I’ve found that I can eat here is their salads.

Got a Caesar salad no croutons explained I have celiacs. They did the whole plastic bowl separate to go bag stuff and all for the whole no cross contamination but then put croutons on. I asked kindly if they could remake it. They gave a huge attitude about it, but did remake it. Don’t seem to know a thing about it or listen well. Wouldn’t recommend.

Let’s be real, this is a bread place. 🫣 So if cross contamination is a no-go for you, don’t eat here. That being said, I just have a wheat allergy and can generally stand some cross contamination. But I will say if you mark your order as a wheat allergy, they do take the time to change gloves and surfaces. My order took a little longer to come out due to this, but I appreciated the extra care. They even put my drink cup in the bag rather than on the shared counter like they normally would. I got the green goddess salad and it was very yummy!!

Unfortunately even with the most understanding employee there is nothing safe on the menu. Bread products are kept over the salad and sandwich filling bins so crumbs drip down, all surfaces are shared and many people are not trained on allergy protocols at all.

Tough place to be GF (“Panera Bread” - no surprise) and DF. Smoothies are all made with yogurt & cannot be made DF. Everything on the menu has gluten and/or dairy minus one *seasonal* salad (had chicken, lettuce, mandarins, strawberries, and poppy seed dressing). Maybe it was the strawberry poppyseed salad, but idk if that’s its actual name. Not amazing, but it worked and was grateful for an option as usually there wouldn’t be any for me. They told the staff about my allergy and packed it to go to reduce cross contamination risk, which l appreciated :)

I ordered the chicken, strawberry, caprice salad. Taste was very good. I had gone to this Panera prior and the manager said they take precautions if they know somebody needs gluten-free. The person taking the order made a very clear (and loud) request to the people putting the food together that it needed to be gluten-free. The person making the food said, in a sarcastic tone, “do they know it’s a bakery?” in response. The person with me ordered a bagel, and I was told it would be wrapped separately to avoid cross-contamination. It was not wrapped separately. I will probably avoid going here again in the future.

They pulled up the menu and were able to tell me exactly what would follow my gluten, soy, and dairy free guidelines.They used fresh utensils, bagged mine separately, changed gloves, and sanitized the area. All of this was witnessed by myself. I also heard her training the other employees about their protocols.

Their salads are delicious, Mexican street corn soup is also gluten-free. Just watch ingredients. Ask for Jen…she was very gluten conscious. I always get the strawberry poppyseed salad, is delicious, and have had that many locations without issues. Autumn Squash is also gf. It gets my vote.

Went there today as my wife wanted to go there on Mother’s Day thinking that they offer “clean food.” A misnomer when speaking about dairy and gluten allergies. The only thing they have is a salad. As I watched them make the salad, bread dropped from the shelf into the ingredients bin, one person changed their gloves while others didn’t. All I can say is do not eat there because of the very high chance of cross contamination. For a place that advertises as though they are a healthy option for someone without allergies they might be, but if you have allergies, bring your epi pen! 😱

There is an option to put what kind of allergy you have. I listed wheat. I ordered the you choose two and got the Mexican corn chowder soup and chicken Cobb salad and for a side potato chips. It had a sticker on it saying “wheat allergy” about an hour after eating it, full gluten symptoms hit me while on a plane. Not safe to eat all, and I should have known better.

I definitely don't recommend this place for any with celiac disease. I've been here a few times and they never have any idea what's gluten free. They kind of panic when I mention it. One of employees got scolded for clarifying if I could eat one of the ingredients. There isn't a gluten free menu, but their allergens are listed online. They frequently change the menu, so the amount of gluten free options changes any time I've been there. However, they are supposed to change their gloves when an allergy is marked. And they always serve allergy meals in to go containers instead of their plates/bowls.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out they have more than just salad. The Autumn squash soup is gluten free and delicious. The cashier even put on the order that there is a wheat allergy.

Avoid at all cost. I ended up on the hospital for a week after eating here. My gf salad had a large piece of bread soaked in salad dressing at the bottom of my salad. I alerted them of my allergy and they just put the French bread at the bottom of my salad instead of leaving it off. Not worth the risk.

I have gotten soup from Panera a few times and have not been glutened. Several employees have warned not to order salads if you have celiac. The ingredients are prepared on the same surfaces as sandwiches.

Here are some options if you're really looking for it, however read this post in full before deciding whether or not it's safe for you to eat here:- Mexican Style Street Corn Chowder- Fuji Apple Salad w/ Chicken- Greek Salad w/ Chicken- Green Goddess Cobb Salad w/ ChickenUnless you're looking for a salad or a drink, don't expect anything gluten-free. None of the breads are gluten-free and nearly all the soups are thickened with flour.I honestly wouldn't recommend ordering anything here if you're gluten-sensitive because cross-contamination is really common in the kitchen, regardless of if the manager is making it or if they change the gloves before making your meal (which they should lol that's legit a policy). The rate at which they recieve orders leaves very little time or energy on the staff's end to be allergen-friendly.If you're looking for a Panera Bread fix, I'd recommend buying Panera's "Baked Potato Soup" from grocery stores as it's gluten-free and was my addiction before I became dairy-free. It's much safer. 😊

My husband and I eat here every time we are in town. It is very safe, knowledgeable staff, and lots of options. Most sandwiches/soups/salads can be adapted to be gluten free by making it without bread and not putting croutons in the soups/salads.

There are a couple of salads without gluten-containing ingredients, but there is a high risk of cross contamination. No GF bread options so NO sandwich is apt. Tomato soup is the only one with gluten free main ingredients but it is necessary to remove the topping (croutons)

A safe option would be their mango smoothie and green goddess chicken Cobb salad. Both are very good. They don't have many gluten free options and I'm not sure how safe they are about cross contamination.

Not completely gluten free, but when I told the woman “gluten allergy” she said the salads and a soup do not have gluten ingredients. She said they change gloves/use clean utensils and called it back as a “sideline.” I was eating in but they packaged it in a plastic to go with a lid to keep it separate.

We purposely ordered at counter instead of kiosk to be sure our allergies were handled properly. Young man at counter told us a manager must come handle allergy orders, so I thought that was a good sign. I asked to order the Mediterranean bowl and questioned if there was anything that needed to be altered to ensure it would be gluten free. The manager indicated to the cashier for him to remove the feta and yogurt from my order. When I shared that those items are dairy and not gluten, the manager seemed confused and got out the nutritional info book. 2 out of 4 in our family ordered GF food items. When our takeout bag was ready, there was a baguette loose in the bag with unwrapped plastic forks. While we were waiting for our food I heard the same manager tell a customer that she had been working there 3 years. I don’t think allergies are taken seriously at this location.

It’s Panera. It’d be ridiculous for me to expect GF. I was able to get the Fuji salad. Fortunately, I noticed the rogue crouton that made its way in my salad before it was too late. They were very gracious to offer me an apple instead of a baguette—even put it a bag to try to keep me safe. :)

Panera has barely anything that’s gluten free other than salads. They used to have at least one soup, but not last I checked. However, the mediterranean bowl is gluten free. I’ve gotten it a couple times with chicken (and chips instead of baguette!) and been fine. Maybe disappointed they skimp on the olives, but that’s a separate issue. My favorite bfast spot before GF was Panera, went with my family today and they said they had nothing for me. Pretty sad since at the front it states “clean and healthy” but they don’t have anything on their menu as far as breakfast that is GF. I appreciated the tip about the Mediterranean bowl. I’d order it again. Brown rice, chicken, hummus on a Greek salad. But, surprise, it comes with bread on the side- when I reacted to that the server happily offered to bring a bag of potato chips. There’s no GF bread and I did not ask about getting a lettuce wrap sandwich.

I will preface by saying I am not the most sensitive celiac so Panera may not be suited for everyone. That being said, I eat at this location frequently with few issues, as does another celiac friend of mine. You can mark a wheat allergy on the kiosks and app. I have a friend who works here who says the risk of CC on the bowl and salad bar is low anyway, but that their manager takes allergies seriously and they have good protocols. I typically get the autumn squash soup and med bowl, and usually have no reaction - did get CCed at the Union location which is why I stick to this one.

I can't have dairy or gluten. What's nice about Panera is why you use the kiosk to order you can select your allergies. These allergies will print on the kitchen order form so they know. I had the Mediterranean Chicken warm bowl. It was amazing!

Disappointed that they don’t bother to have more gluten free choices. Due to having multiple dietary restrictions i can only have salad and like one soup. There salads are good but sometimes I want a sandwich or soup they put wheat as a thickener in a lot of them. Like their broccoli cheddar one, which I used to love before switching to a gluten free diet.

Panera has a very limited “gluten conscious” menu online that includes a couple salads and smoothies. The menu shows ingredient list. When we arrived they were not very busy so I felt comfortable asking if they use their blender for anything other than the smoothies. They also make their coffees in them…which include the syrups (not sure if they are GF). They were very accommodating and went and got a clean/new blender from the back, showed me it was new, and used that for our smoothies. Also got a couple salads and apples. No symptoms afterward.

I work at Panera and I would say it is not celiac safe. I have celiac and the only thing I get it the turkey chili because it's one of the only gluten free soups. The salad is cross contaminated and there is flour in the air a lot. The broccoli cheddar soup is NOT gluten free. The only reason I feel safe eating the turkey chili is because we bag boil and they all have separate ladles and covers. And if you do get the soup ask for it packaged to go because the for here bowls get contaminated. Overall, if you have to go to panera get the turkey chili during fall and winter, and get the Thai chicken soup during the spring and summer (they use tamari soy sauce in it).

I asked if the french onion soup was gluten-free (my favorite) and notified the lady I have celiac (very recently diagnosed) and she checked for me and informed me the Thai Chicken soup was the only soup they had gluten-free. I asked if they had other options since that one is marked Spicy and she said if I saw something she could ask. I went with a caesar salad and doubled the chicken and no croutons, and she changed my side to an apple instead of the typical bread loaf a customer gets from here. She was very polite and let me ask and didn’t make me feel anything other than she was there to help me figure it out. I plan to do more research and see if I can remove on some of their amazing subs next time.

I ordered crispy carrots on my salad thinking they were going to be cut raw carrots. Turns out they are fried in wheat flour. I have food dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis. Because of this I had to pick all of the carrots of my salad (which took forever). Please be careful when ordering!
