What is Nevada Day?

Nevada Day is a State holiday that commemorates Nevada’s admission to the Union on October 31, 1864. Nevada Day is officially observed on the last Friday in October. In 1939, the Nevada Legislature passed a bill to make Nevada Day a state holiday. In 1949, the year McDonald Carano was founded, a bill was signed by Nevada Governor Vail Pittman that finally authorized Nevada Day as an official State holiday.

In the cards and videos posted below, we share our celebration of the people, places, and culture that make our State so special. McDonald Carano was founded, built, and sustained by people who love Nevada. We are proud to be Nevadans and proud to be your Nevada law firm since our founding in 1949! In Northern Nevada Business Weekly’s 2025 and 2023 Best in Business Awards, McDonald Carano received 1st Place in the “Marketing Campaign” category for our Nevada Day Celebration campaign and card.
