Member Nov 25, 2017 1,227 So my 8tb external drive crapped out on me yesterday, click of death, that was storing all my ps4 games connected to my ps5. So I took it back and got a new one under warranty. I knew I was going to have to download a load of games again but I thought fine, it is what it is. Problem is, I can't? My ps5 thinks all the games are installed, but I can't uninstall them because to do this, I'd need to be on usb extended storage, which is greyed out because obviously that drive isn't connected. If I click on a game in my collection, it gives me the option to play, but then says drive isn't connected. No option anywhere to uninstall the games on that broken drive. Am I literally going to have to wipe my ps5 blank and start from scratch?ProstatePuncher

Member Oct 25, 2017 4,679 Which options do you get if you press the Option button on a game icon that is greyed out? OP OPKris1977
Member Nov 25, 2017 1,227 Without the hard drive connected its only showing me games that are on the internal ssd of the ps5 as installed on the "installed" part of my collection tab. If I move across to collection tab all my games are there that I own including the ones that were installed on the broken drive. I can click to play on these but then it tells me to connect the drive. The only other options available are things like product page etc for each of those games.PuppetMinion
The Fallen Nov 1, 2017 2,719 Have you contacted Sony customer service? Kinda weird if the only solution is to nuke the whole console if an external drive dies... OP OPKris1977
Member Nov 25, 2017 1,227 Wonder if anyone here could literally unplug there external drive, then try and delete a game that's on it without it connected, see if they can figure it out because its stumped me. I haven't rang customer services yet because I thought it was me missing a trickSprat

I haven't rang customer services yet because I thought it was me missing a trick Click to expand... Click to shrink...When you have the external disconnected you have to go in to Settings -> Storage -> Console Storage -> Games and Apps. What you should find is all of the PS4 games that were on your external listed - like this - with the description being "Game Content (console storage exclusive). Once you delete these your PS5 essentially forgets that the game was installed on the external drive, and will allow you to download it again. I'm kind of surprised that using the rebuild database option from Safe Mode didn't automatically remove all these. It may be you have to do that while the new external drive is connected or something like that, but it may just be that it doesn't clean these up.
