How many autosomes do humans have?Answer
Verified545.4k+ viewsHint: The non-sex chromosome of humans are called autosomes. In humans the ploidy of autosomes is 2.Complete answer:An autosome is the non-sex chromosomes. Humans have 22 autosome sets; they are numerically referred to (e.g., chromosome 1, chromosome 2) according to a typical order of sort based on height, form, and other characteristics. Autosomes are distinct from sex chromosomes, which in all adult human cells make up the 23rd pair of chromosomes and come in two forms called X and Y. Autosomes regulate the inheritance of all the characteristics of an organism except the sex-linked ones, which are in turn controlled by the sex chromosomes. The chromosome number present in human somatic cells is 23 pairs. Twenty-two pairs out of 23 pairs of chromosomes are autosomes and a pair of sex chromosomes. It is possible to photograph and arrange autosomes as per length. It's a karyotype.Note: 1)In autosomes, numerical anomalies are commonly thought to arise from meiotic nondisjunction, i.e. the unequal chromosome division between daughter cells, which may occur during the development of either maternal or paternal gamete.2)Down syndrome is a result of autosomal trisomy of chromosome number 13.Recently Updated PagesMaster Class 12 Economics: Engaging Questions & Answers for Success
