Sylvester Stallone (Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone, also known as Sly) is a famous American actor of Italian origin, best known for his iconic performances as Rocky Balboa in the Rocky movie series and John Rambo in the Rambo films.

He was born in 1946 in New York, into the family of a hairdresser and an astrologer. Stallone began his acting career by appearing in a few adult films in order to earn money. In the early 1970s, he started receiving offers for more serious roles, including appearances in movies like Bananas (directed by Woody Allen), The Lords of Flatbush, and others.

His worldwide success came with the Rocky and Rambo franchises, which brought him numerous awards and nominations. Other popular films he has starred in include Cobra, Tango & Cash (with Kurt Russell), Oscar, Stop!
