How STUPID Women REALLY Are
Maybe your like
Ladies, How Stupid ARE You, Really? Can women make it to the end of this article, big words and all? We'll find out by how many actually do.
OK, it's a fact and we all know it: the majority of men think women are, basically, stupid.
Look at some of the g-dawful commercials on TV (made by men, of course) - and you can't help but know their opinion of us. Women chasing down other women to grab that last package of HouseBKleen, or believing we absolutely MUST have some synthetic stinkum going off every 15 minutes in our homes (to cover up the fact we're such lousy homemakers our domain smells funky); hundreds of commercials assail us 24/7 asserting how brain-dead they think us.
But never, ever have we women been treated this in-your-face dumb before. This time the insult is so blatant, it can't be missed. I was pleasantly stunned when I overheard a 12-year old girl talking about how insulted she was anyone thought women were not just the weaker, but the weak-brained sex. "Ya know, he must, ya know, think we are, ya know, brain-dead or sumpthin', right?" Her friends were even more vocal about the fact any woman still dared to play up her 'best skills' as being a baby-making machine, taxi driver for her kids, and dutiful wife. Seems the insult wasn't lost even on girls just entering the fight. [you go, girls!]
If you haven't figured out what I'm aiming at, you must've been in a deep dark hole for the past week. John McCain picked as his running mate, not someone with the credentials to step into the Oval Office, not someone with MORE experience than his Democratic challenger (whom he's spent almost sixty million dollars blasting for lack of experience bleating how Obama has only spent 15 years in state & local offices and 1 1/2 terms as a D.C. Senator of a major industrial state, but who had the good sense to pick a running mate who has loads of foreign-policy experience), no, John picked a woman with the absolute LEAST experience of any he could find, whose only credentials are she doesn't have a penis, and she is a religious conservative to the bone.
Oh, yes, almost forgot a big plus for John: she won a beauty pageant. (like McCain's current wife...the one he took out a marriage license for before he got through tossing his first wife aside for Ms. Arm-Candy, and whom he tried to enter in the Miss Buffalo Chip contest recently in Sturgis. Oh, just a yeah, John does love those pageants.)
We who supported Hillary are supposed to overlook Palin's woeful lack of experience and celebrate her lack of a penis. Gov. Palin's whole state has less population than the city of San Diego; Alaska has ZERO money concerns since Big Oil picks up the tab for everything in Alaska (and what does that mean when she takes office? Does anyone really expect her to fight the hand that's fed her family & friends?). Palin was mayor of a town of a little over 9,000 and only had to report for work once a week, since so little ever changed up where it's winter and dark 6 months of the year.
Women who supported Hillary are supposed to embrace a self described 'soccer mom' who likes to shoot, clean and put up her own moose. Hillary was a lot of things, but a) soccer mom sure wasn't one of them and b) I don't think Hillary's into moose.
Sarah Palin's described as a 'cute, little fire-brand'. Gag me. Nothing like a major sexist' put-down to describe your running mate
Hillary had plenty of experience beating her head against the glass ceiling most professional women encounter. Ms.... oh, I'm sorry
Mrs
. Palin has almost none. She handily won her seat as governor for the simple reason that state was fed up with the blatant and open corruption & graft going on at the top and she was ...well,
there.
Unfortunately for Alaska, Mrs. Palin hasn't accomplished
anythingin the way of cleaning up her state in six years, and if she can't clean up a tiny, backwards place like Alaska, what in heaven's name makes her think she can step into the dirty, no-holds-barred world of Washington? Those people will eat that beauty pageant queen up and spit her out whole. Who doesn't believe she'll need some insider (male, of course) to hold her hand, write her speeches, tell her what to believe on foreign policy, etc. ad nauseum?
Speaking of foreign policy, not only has Gov. Palin never been to Iraq (remember McCain blasting Obama because it had been a mere two years between trips?) she admitted before the press (demonstrating her incredible naivet[?] e) she not only hadn't been there, she hasn't been following the war! Her reason? "It didn't impact what I was trying to do in Alaska." Oh, great. She doesn't know anything about Shiite & Sunni (which makes her a match for McCain, who also can't remember who's who when it comes to the players), she couldn't recall how many soldiers have died fighting, doesn't know how many men & women have been wounded- or the cost of caring for them- and so on.
Unlike Hillary, Mrs. Palin doesn't know where the country of Georgia is on the map, in fact, she possibly may know it isn't in the United States. She has no knowledge of world history, politics, science, or anything involving higher education. Oh, yes...she managed to get a local degree in journalism, but has never run a newspaper or magazine or even had a column in the newspaper. Well, that should help her as veep, yes? I imagine the McCain camp is going to be drilling her in facts & figures night and day from now til the election trying to make her sound like she isn't totally vacant between the ears.
Hillary could never be confused with a soccer mom, but, then again, nobody dares mess with her when it came to fighting for what she believes in. Take the rights of women - or anyone else for that matter. Equal pay for equal work sounds so logical, one wonders why it's not a reality already, but oddly enough, the religious right thinks it's God's Word women be subjugated to men in all things, including being paid less for identical labor. (I'd love to sit down with any of these people and discuss theology and women. Seems in the Bible the second chapter of Genesis it reads 'male and female He created THEM'. But, I digress...). Unlike Sarah Palin our Hillary believes in 100% equal rights regardless of sex, creed, or race. She's fought for, not against, reproductive freedom for women, along with the right to birth control, to being free from rape, free from exploitation based on sex, and freedom to seek our own destiny.
Mrs. Palin, on the other hand, [obviously] does not believe in birth control, & proudly states she is absolutely against abortion
in all cases. Period.
No exceptions.
She believes that any woman who has an abortion
belongs in jail.
Ditto for any physician performing an abortion. Really? I'd like to see her tell a woman carrying a Trisomy21 baby she must carry this abomination to term. For those who don't know, Trisomy21 babies are a mixed up mess of things being where they shouldn't or not there at all. They don't have functioning brains. just brain stems usually. If they don't self-abort, most of these babies die within hours of birth. NONE live longer than a few days. These pregnancies tend to be toxic to the mother, though science still doesn't know quite why. The theory is the body is trying to get rid of the baby and, in doing so, attacks the mother.
My neighbor once had such a pregnancy. She said she knew something was wrong from the beginning, that she never felt right from the earliest stages of pregnancy, but her (male) OB/gyn put it down to 'mother's nerves'. [FYI: there is no such diagnosis on the books]. So, by the time the doctor finally listened, took an x-ray, ordered the amniocentesis & sent her for genetic testing my friend was seven months pregnant. She was sick almost everyday, not enough to miss work, but enough to make her miserable. She was faced with a tough decision, a most difficult any woman can make: try to make it through the pregnancy and watch her baby die, anyway, and risk dying herself, or terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible.
She opted to terminate. She still had to go through labor, but the fetus was less than a pound and the labor was brief. She was made to look at the baby by the nurses so she could see how malformed it was and never wonder if she'd made the right choice. I sent her a card & flowers. She told me later that small token of friendship on my part meant the world to her.
Don't get me wrong, I don't believe abortion should be as easy as ordering a burger, nor would I like to be the first or even second choice a woman makes, but, it's not my decision to make. There should be an option if the woman finds herself in a situation where the pregnancy must end. I know the heartbreak of losing children... I have five angels in heaven and it took a lot of good medicine, patience & prayer to allow me to be blessed with the son I have. I know the crying need for babies to adopt since abortion became easily obtainable... my husband and I adopted a five-year-old special-needs child because no babies were available in our area without putting out a lot of money up front. But, that doesn't mean I would ever deny someone like my friend the right to seek a legal abortion - especially when she's carrying a genetic monster, or even if she isn't.This terrible choice is between a woman, her God and her doctor. Not included are a lot of people trying to win elections.
Sarah Palin doesn't see it that way. She's proud to boast she kept her Down' Syndrome baby... she should. However, she honestly can't comprehend why every woman doesn't make a similar decision. Sarah doesn't understand every woman
doesn't
live in a state that supports handicapped children AND the mother forever. That other women don't have husbands and four other children (one an adult) to help raise the baby isn't her concern. The fact her situation is not the norm in America doesn't impact her decision to fight to overturn safe and legal abortion in this country in the slightest. She would, if elected, impose her beliefs on every woman in this country... and, if John McCain is elected president that's
exactlywhat's going to happen.
I remember when abortion wasn't legal. When doctors went to jail for 20 years if they were caught performing an abortion. When women went to jail for murder if they had an abortion. But that doesn't mean abortions didn't take place every bit as much as they do today, it just meant back before Roe v.Wade they took place in back rooms, with the woman on a kitchen table using a metal coat hanger or a knitting needle in place of surgical instruments. Abortions took place with no anesthetic because the local woman who did the abortion didn't have access to such things. Uterine punctures weren't uncommon.
Women often became toxic from infection or from retained products of conception. They became sterile or, far too often, died horribly. There was no sympathy for them because it was felt they had brought this on themselves, and many doctors refused to treat them. Not only that, if the woman sought medical care after an abortion she knew she was going to be tried and put in jail for her 'crime'. Plus, all too often out of fear she waited to seek treatment until it was too late. Wealthy women, on the other hand, usually could pay 'that certain doctor' to take care of their problem using such ambiguities as 'excessive uterine bleeding' or 'constant cramps' or such other nicety to hide the abortion taking place. For the poor, however, there was no such civilized treatment.
This is what Sarah Palin & John McCain intend for women to go back to in this country. Sarah says she has no problem jailing women for the crime of not wanting a baby. When asked, she has no idea what they're going to do with the two or 3 million babies left annually at the hospital, or simply thrown away when women who never wanted these babies are forced to have them. She refuses to acknowledge that far more women die in childbirth than in modern abortion. She doesn't bother her little head thinking of such things. Does she think women will simply stop having sex & babies by magic? If that were so, her 17-year-old wouldn't be pregnant now. Accidents do happen.
Sarah is the perfect candidate for the conservative right because, despite the fact she's Governor of the State of Alaska, she also must make sure she's home in time to put supper on the table for her husband, help the kids with their homework, clean the house, feed the baby, and now, take care of her pregnant 17-year-old daughter by herself.. She's married to a man who has a drinking problem (history of multiple DUIs), and one reporter's column recently told the tale of looking up her father. He said he was fairly warned he'd better not get ill at the sight of dead animals. Turns out, the path to the house was crammed full of rotting caribou, elk and moose carcasses, harvested for their antlers. Ask yourself this: what kind of role model is she for our daughters? Is she a forceful, dynamic woman like Hillary, or is she just another trophy wife on John McCain's arm?
Lest we forget, John McCain, if he wins, will be the oldest man ever elected to presidency of the United States of America. He's already had one bout with cancer. He exhibits signs of early Alzheimer's disease (memory loss, bouts of explosive anger when faced with sudden changes in the schedule, that blank look he gets when somebody throws a question at him that wasn't coached in the same words he was trained, forgetting we were even at war in Afghanistan, declaring last week we had won the war in Iraq because 'there was nothing but peace there now' [right after four suicide bombings had taken place], etc.).
All this boils down to the fact that whoever is chosen for vice president may very well, and in a very short time, be seated behind the desk in the Oval Office. Do we really want somebody in there who's clueless on foreign affairs? Do we really want somebody in there that believes their holy mission is to reverse Roe v. Wade? Do we believe the job of vice president is nothing more than another beauty contest to be won?
Are we that stupid we believe any woman is better than no woman?
Are women truly as dumb as John McCain thinks they are?
Women who were angry Hillary lost the primary campaign (fair and square, let's be honest and admit it) are saying they're going to throw their support to John McCain to spite Obama for winning. It's a perfect example of 'cutting off one's nose to spite one's face'. We must not forget whoever win the White House will be replacing up to three Supreme Court justices in the next term. The Supreme Court right now is balanced by a hair between ultraconservatives, moderates & Liberals. It will only take ONE Supreme Court Justice to throw the court to the ultraconservatives.
We've already seen so many basic rights in this country torn away from citizens: eminent domain laws upheld by the Supreme Court allowing personal property to be taken away for a pittance to be used for private business concerns; employee rights being watered down to nothing; denying the right of health care for all Americans; the list goes on and on. We cannot forget the Supreme Court is our last bastion against the wrongs the private citizenry face in America. If we allow McCain to win the Supreme Court will be fixed dead rightfor the next 40 years. Is it really worth giving up so much of your rights and those of your children and your children's children just to "get back" at Obama for the crime of winning?
There's one thing I don't like: being called 'dumb' for the mere reason of being a woman. I don't like being marginalized or minimalized when I offer suggestions or ideas merely because I'm a woman, yet, all too often, that's exactly what happens.
I
don'tlike the fact John McCain picked a woman merely because he wanted to pick up Hillary's 18 million votes.
He had his choice of at least six other highly qualified women candidates, but didn't choose them.He chose
the least
qualified woman he could find to shove it in our faces how little he thinks of us. He picked a soccer mom with
zero
experience &
zero
brains; a typical baby baking factory to stand one heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States of America.
John McCain's laughing at us as he throws the dice.
He's practically spitting in our faces...
And, dammit, some of us are dumb enough to buy it.
