Budew is a Grass- and Poison-type Baby Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl found on early routes like Route 204. The Budew evolution line requires abnormal methods, from Budew to Roselia, and from Roselia to Roserade. Read on to learn how to Evolve Budew into Roselia and how to evolve Roselia into Roserade.

How to Evolve Budew

Budew doesn't evolve just by leveling it up. Instead, you must:

• Increase Budew's Friendship (two hearts in the Poketch Friendship Checker App)
• Level it up during the daytime.

As a Baby Pokemon, Budew needs Friendship to evolve - a normally hidden stat increased in a variety of ways, such as:

• Winning battles with Budew
• Not letting Budew faiint
• Keeping Budew in your party

There are other methods to increase Budew's friendship, but these methods can't be utilized until mid-game. See Friendship for full details! Once Budew shows two small hearts on the Friendship Checker app (unlocked in Eterna City), level it up in the daytime and it will evolve!

Note: Budew is Bad, Though

Unfortunately, Budew and Roselia have inherited their level-up moves from Pokemon Sword and Shield. This leaves Budew with Absorb as its only damaging attack, rendering it pretty useless. To make matters worse, Roselia learns Mega Drain early at Level 5, Magical Leaf at Level 15, and not another Grass-type move, Giga Drain, until Level 30. Because ways to increase Friendship is so limited at the beginning of the game, we recommend not even bothering with Budew. Catch a Roselia in the Grand Underground or on Route 212 instead for a better move pool that won't require you to use the Move Relearner.

How to Evolve Roselia into Roserade

Roselia evolves into Roserade using the Evolutionary Stone called a Shiny Stone. Simply give use it on Roselia, and it will evolve.

However, like some other evolutions that require a stone, Roserade will not naturally learn any more moves! Make sure Roselia has learned all the moves you'd like before evolving it.

You can get a Shiny Stone at Iron Island, an optional area accessible by ship from Canalave City
