New ChecklistAll ListsMy ChecklistsAllAll ListsMy ChecklistsThe Genshin Impact Reputation system offers to add even more reason to fully explore the anime-inspired gatcha adventure game. Set to arrive in the 1.1 update in early November, developer MiHoYo has dished out enough early information for us to have a well-rounded idea of how the Reputation system will work, and what it can do for you. Read on to find out how to increase your reputation across Mondstadt and Liyue, and the rewards you’ll earn along the way.
What is the Reputation System? The upcoming Reputation System mimics those seen in other live-service games like Destiny 2 and World of Warcraft. The general idea is that specific actions in each region will grow your influence amongst its people, who’ll then offer various rewards as you level up your standing with them.
In Genshin Impact, each city state is set to gain its own reputation system. This will start with the two currently available regions of Mondstadt and Liyue, but should stretch to newer regions like Dragonspire as they become available to explore.
How to Unlock the City Reputation and Exploration SystemLike a few other new additions to the game, the City Reputation system isn’t something that’s unlocked right away. Not for new players, at least. Adventure Rank 25 is when the general City Reputation feature unlocks, but you’ll need to have completed a specific quest in a region’s storyline to start earning City Reputation in that area.
Unlocking Liyue Reputation
- Upon reaching Adventure Rank 25: to start making progress toward the state of Liyue, you’ll need to complete the Archon quest “Farewell, Archaic Lord - Chapter I: Act II”
Unlocking Mondstadt City Reputation
- On top of reaching Adventure Rank 25, you’ll need to have completed the Archon quest “The Outlander Who Caught the Wind - Prologue: Act I” to start increasing your Mondstadt reputation.
The City Reputation and Exploration system is actually two distinct systems in one: Reputation and Exploration are leveled up independently of one another, resulting in two different lists of rewards and unlocks. One focuses on competing quests and weekly challenges, whereas the other increases primarily by ticking off map points and collectibles.
Increasing City Reputation LevelReputation is predominantly gained by completing Bounties and Requests; which are both new tasks tied to the weekly reset system. You can only complete a maximum of three of each type across all cities in a single week, so you'll have to decide which city you want to focus on before picking them up.
Region Quests (likely standard quests already found in each region) will award Reputation in the corresponding region. These are a finite source of Reputation, though, as they generally cannot be repeated. Progress made prior to unlocking the feature will be applied your your City Reputation retroactively once unlocked.
Increasing World Exploration LevelWorld Exploration relates to general adventuring. By opening chests, unlocking Waypoints, and finding Elemental Oculi, you’ll increase your World Exploration level in the corresponding region, unlocking equipment and features different to those found in the City Reputation screen.
As any of the activities that award World Exploration experience are finite, all actions carried out prior to unlocking the City Reputation feature (and even before the feature is patched in) will be retroactively applied to your standing with the corresponding city.
RewardsAs you increase your City Reputation up to the current max, you’ll unlock a bunch of features that should make your adventure just that little bit easier. Plenty of them are merely cosmetic rewards, like namecard and glider designs, but local discounts and the Mining Outcrop Search feature will likely save you more time and money the longer you play. Here’s the current unlock list
