How to get a Potato in Survival Mode
You can add a potato to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a village and gathering the potato from the village gardens. So, let's get started!
1. Find a Village
Villages are found in different biomes in Minecraft. Here is an example of what some of the villages look like:
Plains Village

Desert Village

2. Look for the Gardens within the Village
Once you've found a village, look for the gardens in the village. It is within the gardens that you will find rows of potatos to dig up.

3. Dig up the Potato Plant
The game control to dig up the potato plant depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the potato plants.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the potato plants.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the potato plants.
- For Education Edition, left click and hold on the potato plants.

The potato plant will break and a smaller potato will float on the ground.
4. Pick up the Potato
Make sure you pick up the potato before it disappears.

Once you pick up the potato, it will appear in your hotbar.

A potato is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
