Raising Cane's Sauce is what makes their fried chicken stand out from all the rest. The irresistible combination of ketchup, mayonnaise and spices is no longer a secret! You can make your own at home.
Raising Cane's Chicken has quickly become an institution in the South. Keep in mind, there are lots of options for fried chicken in the southern United States. The quickest way to stand out in the fast-food fried chicken space is a delicious sauce, and this one can't be beat!
In fact, I like this copycat recipe so much that I featured it previously on my Corn Flake Chicken Strips post. It would also make a delightful dip for Louisiana Meat Pies. Fun fact, Raising Cane's also started in Louisiana.
So what does it taste like? Some compare it to Fry Sauce or Comeback Sauce, but I think the flavor of this dupe recipe is unique. It takes like a blend of garlic, pepper, ketchup, and magic.

Raising Cane's Sauce (Copycat)
Ingredients
Six simple ingredients are all it takes to mix up your own batch of Cane's sauce. Seriously, this recipe is as easy as it gets!
Ketchup- Whataburger ketchup can't be beat, but any brand will work.
Mayo- we love Duke's at my house but any brand will work.
Paprika- stay away from smoked paprika for this recipe unless you want a smoky version (see Variations below).
Pepper- I prefer coarse ground pepper for this recipe so you can see the flecks of pepper in the sauce.
Garlic Salt
Worcestershire Sauce
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Grab a pen and paper because you may need to write all of this down. I'm kidding! You dump everything in a bowl and stir it up. That's it!
Hint: The most important step in the recipe is to let the Cane's sauce chill before serving. I like to let the sauce sit overnight. The minimum time I recommend is an hour. Chill time allows all the flavors to mix together.
Substitutions
The only possible substitution I can offer for this recipe is for the garlic salt. Garlic powder can be used in its place, but be sure to also add a pinch of salt as well.
Variations
Just like any good dipping sauce, the most important thing is that YOU like the taste. Start with the base recipe provided but feel free to jazz it up any way you like. Here are a few suggestions.
Spicy - add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce
Vegan - substitute vegan mayo
Smoky - substitute smoked paprika for regular paprika
Storage
How long can you keep Raising Cane's sauce? The better question is will you be able to keep any. Around my house, the answer is definitely no.
Be sure to store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge. If stored properly, the sauce can be kept for up to 30 days.
Top tip
I know this advice will be difficult to follow, but do yourself a favor and let the sauce sit undisturbed for at least an hour before serving. The flavor gets better with time!
If you're looking for a good copycat recipe for Cane's chicken fingers, check out this one. Honestly though, I think frozen breaded tenders taste almost as good as homemade when smothered in this delicious sauce.
