ctkenc C Posted this question in the "Sights" section but no replies yet .... hoping one of you can tell me the measurements of my G-34 factory stock Glock Sights, or, tell me where I am supposed to measure from if I can find a good tool to take the measurements with. Thinking of replacing the stock factory Sights on my G-34 but do not know the right measurements I need to know when selecting a new set of sights :dunno: I don't have any measuring tools that would do the job accurately and don't really know where on the sights to take measurements. The G-34 comes stock with "Adjustable" Rear Sight so I guess that brings into question a "range" of answers depending on how high or low you have the rear sight adjusted for. I know the Width of the Gap or Notch in the Rear Sight ought to be a pretty standard and simple measurement, or Answer, but ... where is the measurement taken for the Height ? Is it to the bottom of ther Notch as that is a critical component used for aiming, or, is it to the "top" of the Rear Sight ? I'm "assuming" the Front Sights on the G-34 are pretty standardized so there must be some reliable answer to that question, somewhere. The Glock Web Sites I've seen are not very informative or helpful. So, I guess to try to say it simply ... I need to know what the metrics are for Considering or Ordering new Sights that are identical in sizes to the stock factory sight (acknowledging that the Rear Sight Is adjustable (but, I'll probably replaced it with a "Fixed" Rear Sight) I had mounted on it a set of fine looking Dawson Fiber Optic's with Adjustable Rear Sight but the .300 Front Sight made the gun shoot so low that it was unusable ... those are gone now and the factory stock sights are back on and they work fine but are not FO or Night Sights. I'll probably replace them with Fixed Night Sights (Mepro or Ameriglo) as long as the new Rear Sight can be the same height as the stock factory sight when it is adjusted to be about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way Up... whatever measurement answer that might be. Thanks in advance for your help Image .... sorry to be so long winded. Ken ed to measure, if I can find a good tool to measure with. #1 · May 17, 2010 Posted this question in the "Sights" section but no replies yet .... hoping one of you can tell me the measurements of my G-34 factory stock Glock Sights, or, tell me where I am supposed to measure from if I can find a good tool to take the measurements with. Thanks, That is exactly what I was planning to do but think I need to know my measurements in case I choose a Front Sight from one product line and a rear Sight from another one of their product Lines .... and, from my experience with the Dawson's, I want to be sure that whatever I order is exactly the same heights as my stock, factory Glock Sights. BTW, Dawson was great to deal with and very nice about taking them back ... seem like a quality outfit to me. #4 · May 17, 2010 Ameriglo provides dimensions on most sights. Stock Glock front is about 0.165 inches. Rear's vary and come in 4 sizes. Use a caliper to measure sights that are not installed. #5 · May 17, 2010 (Edited) I believe all the Glocks come stock with either .256" or .272" rear and your G34 should come with .256" along with the .165" front as previously mentioned by Danny. Edit: Forgot to mention that the height measurement for the rear sight is made from the bottom of the sight (dovetail), and not the top of the slide. #6 · May 17, 2010

That is EXTREMELY HELPFUL :embarassed: ... with my simple little ruler I could not make sense of the measurements I got; had no idea that I needed to measure from the bottom of the dovetail. My "guess" is that when I adjust the Rear Sight up a couple of clicks to the setting that gives me the POA=POI results I'm looking for, it is still not much taller than the .256, maybe it is then whatever the next choice would be but less than .272 Now I know what to measure ... from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of wherever the raised sight rest at my desired setting. thanks again #7 · May 17, 2010 You don't need to measure from the dovetail, it's just easier to get an accurate caliper measurement with the sights removed. #8 · May 17, 2010 (Edited) I have found Ameriglo sights are the actual height they advertise, front and rear. I also measure each sight I install to get the best results for me. You will have to buy a caliper but they come in very handy for a variety of things not just measuring sights. Please excuse my art work but I will try and explain. To measure the front use the depth portion (blue circle) of the caliper and measure from the top of the slide to the top of the front sight. Having a rear adjustable sight may be more difficult to measure but, if possible try and measure from the bottom of the dovtail to the top of the adjustable portion of your sight (blue marks). This is the way I measure with my dial or digital caliper and seems to work ok without removing the sight. If the caliper wont reach the white outline area of the rear sight then the only other way I could think of is remove the sight and measure or take seperate measurments while it's still on the gun( red and green marks). Good luck, BTW Ameriglo sights are top shelf sights, IMO. #9 · May 17, 2010
